RSS Aggregator

Hi, I saw in another thread how a few people were using www.phplinkdirectory.com and I thought that some of you might find my other script appealing also. NewsTopica allows you to import RSS feeds on a scheduled basis, separated into categories. I'm only aware of one adult webmaster using it right now, but he made me think of you (this site).

First of all, my script is here:
www.newstopica.com
A demo is here:
http://www.newstopica.com/directory/
And also that adult webmaster has started his here:
www.misterwalrus.com

Cheers! :) |santa|

Perhaps it would have been prudent to wait until the issues I have with the program were resolved before including listing my site here. At this point in time, if anyone asked, I probably wouldn't have too many positive things to say.

Although, I will admit you have promised to work on them.

I was looking at this a couple of days ago.

walrus, what problems are you having? Script or server/host?

dvduval, will an update be offered when issues are 'fixed' if someone was to purchase beforehand.. or should I wait?

I have a host problem in that my host doesn't support mod rewrites so I can't do SE friendly URL's and mod rewrite is the only way they have to handle it.

The other problem which dvduval is looking into is that when the RSS feeds are imported. The feeds get imported but the admin of the links gets corrupted and after that point it's uneditable. Not sure, at this point, if this is script or host related but I did have another RSS Aggregator running on the domain.

Also, people can submit their link but not their RSS feed. Feeds have to be added manually. This seems backwards to me. I want them to be able to submit their feed since it's an RSS Aggregator.

The service has been pretty good so far, it just caught me by surprise seeing my URL here when I haven't finished with the design yet and there are an issue or two to work out.

I have been testing my own aggregator and I can tell you this, I would be a little pissed off if someone besides me was the first one to submit the site url to the public. But good luck Walrus, I hope you get your "issues" resolved soon. |thumb

Hi, looks like I can't edit the thread. Sorry for any inconvenience.
I have been speaking with the Walrus, and trying to help him, as well as gain feedback into the next generation of the software. Peace.

dvduval - you just caught me by surprise, really. Since my subs on the domain get a somewhat significant amount of traffic ... a warning / request would have been nice.

Your support has been appreciated and I think I've already given you credit for being responsive.

I'll PM you over on your site, this evening,
besides a resolution to my minor problem, there are only a couple of features I'd like to see implemented.
