ICANN Question

http://www.icann.org/registrars/rede...al-14feb02.htm

Does anyone know if the proposed 30 days grace period ever became mandatory? I cannot seem to find anything more current on the subject.

Any info is appreciated
thanks in advance

As far as I know the 30 day grace period is alive and well, but with most registrars if you let the domain actually expire there's a big additional free to re-register it (like $50-75).

Thank you.
Ideally I'd like to find out if the 30 days is mandatory or not, and if a registrar sells off a domain in say, 14 days; if there is any liability involved or is it simply shitty business practices.

emmanuelle - is it a .com? There is a grace period of 40 days required and they cannot sell it during that period. After that it goes into the redemption period for 30 days where the registrar can charge more to re-register it - but still cannot sell it to anyone else. After that it goes into a 5 day lock period where it is prepared for the domain drop list when at the end it is available for registration by anyone.
