LOS ANGELES Dec 16, 2005 — John Spencer, who played vice presidential candidate Leo McGarry on NBC's "The West Wing," died of a heart attack Friday, his publicist said.

Spencer, 58, died at a Los Angeles hospital, said publicist Ron Hofmann.

Hofmann released no other immediate details.

Damn thats sad to hear :( He was one of my favorite charachters on the West Wing.

yeah i liked him.. he was in LA Law .. pretty good part there too. RIP

Now that is sad he was young! I've never watched West Wing but I did love him on the LA Law also. Tis why we all need to live life to the fullest everyday. Life can be too short too often. RIP

That's really a shame, I always liked his work.
