why does yahoo do this??
I checked like 10 different link lists and yahoo only wants to index the main page for half of them. Whats up with that?
|
After researching this issue it seems to be a rampant problem with all kinds of sites and not just adult link lists.
Some kind of penalty I think |
Interesting .... can you give me a link to a couple of approved and non approved pages and tell me which r which?
|
All you have to do is use site:domain.com or site:www.domain.com
You can go through the top 10 link lists and notice half will only have their main page indexed by yahoo - while having many pages indexed by other search engines like google, msn, etc. You can also check using this thing http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/ Here is two quick examples using large well known link lists: Link-o-rama doesn't seem to be effected by this http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com...&bwmf=a&bwms=p Penisbot seems to be effected only the main page is indexed http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com...&bwmf=a&bwms=p |
Click the inlinks link at top on the penisbot results and it shows 84k+.

Thats not what I' I'm talking about - I'm talking about the fact it only has 1 page indexed. |
btw, results for Entire Site and Only This Url in Yahoo Site Explorer are quite different for those domains.
Where's this difference from, if the only 1 page on domain indexed? :D |
Alot of LLs are banned in Yahoo. Word has it Yahoo seems to not like directory type sites with tons of links pointing to other domains....and no content.

I wonder what throws the red flag. Since half of them seem to evade the same penalty. I got sites in there that do fine and sites that have this penalty. All have a bunch of links. Something flags the ban and I can't figure out what it is. |

I thought with a ban the site would be removed completely from the index and you would have to contact them to request reinclusion. I figure this is just some dumb penalty since they are still in the index and being crawled. I thought if the red flags were removed the penalties would be removed automaticly |
From what I read, home page only listing in Yahoo for an established domain is a ban, and from what I heard from Jay in Wesday's SE chat a few weeks ago, there's some kind of threshhold that once you reach it, Yahoo will drop you like a rock, permanently. It's unclear what the actual red flags are.
|
Fortunately this is not a ban. Just penalty due to the some reason related to big reciprocal linking. Yahoo don't like too much reciprocal links.
I know the sites recovered from this state. |
You know of sites recovered from the "linklist ban" at yahoo, Kit?
How do you think they accomplished that? |
Yes, I know.
One of my sites has been penalized up to the just index page presence in the Yahoos listing and now I found 3 pages in index. I don't know why 2 another pages has bee included last time, but it looks like a small recover. |
