do you like your hosting company?

I wasnt in the mood to goto the spam me forum, so I am hoping this forum will get me different results.

Is the company that hosts your sites a good hosting company?
Would you highly recommend them? (as oppose to 'they're ok')

Here's my checklist - if the company you work with (and love) hits this list - let me know!

live chat support - I'll settle for emails answered within hours.
nix box
ftp
ssh
control panel
MySQL
Perl, PHP
under $15 or under a month plans

Oh and NO TRICKS or hidden clauses like CPU limits - if the hosting company doens't want me to have cycles used by my scripts in cron jobs, I wanna hear about that upfront. Not find out after the fact that I violated paragraph 19............ pet peeve shady loophole conmen..............

So talk to me........

I love my hosting company, I've been with it since April 2000, you should take their basic virtaul hosting plan, and see for yourself.
Dreamhost with $7.95/month for 120 GB bandwidth, and unlimited domains.

Yeah, I like my hosting comapny Acehost Plans $49.5 to $19.95 C-Panel + Unlimited Domains

Jeff813 2005-12-20 02:32 PM

that was meant to say $4.95 - $19.95

Wow, you are going to get screwed somewhere with your check list and your price cap.

Let me ask, are you making enough to pay a little more for a great host?

Jim 2005-12-20 03:59 PM

I am on the best host that I have ever been on. Most know that GGandJ is hosted with colo-cation.com and as you may or may not know, Chris (Sparky, cd34) posts here and keeps the board running the way it should. And, he made a few cool features like my sig file :)

Mattinblack 2005-12-20 06:47 PM

Yeah and whats more Co-Location sent me a christmass card so they are in my good books as well Jim...!

And how did you come to THAT conclussion?
I made no mention of space nor bandwidth.

Those add ons are NOTHING. Absolutely nothing. they are available all over the place. I need to be sure they are there before I pick up and move, but finding them out there in the wild is NOTHING.

so what in your experience leads you to belive my checklist is gonna make things expensive??

guestcam 2005-12-20 09:11 PM

FYI - this is a forced move I have to do for ONE domain. Its a TGP, but its a starting over TGP so I am looking for reasonable BW allowances but nothing megga big.

That's why I am only going to buy into a new host with a cheaper package. One domain and not established traffic. AND I want to see how they are for a few weeks on support issues, uptime, etc before even thinking about making a move of more domains and buying co-lo's etc........

Make sense now?

I like my hosting companies and they offer what you need. They've given me great support and I have no complaints.
