Fatpaychecks closing

Recieved an e-mail from them stating they are closing Dec 31st. Kinda short notice. Thought I'd post it in case some one did'nt get notice.

Got the same email. Wow, that seems really sudden. Wonder what happened?

ladydesigner 2005-12-27 03:20 PM

Thanks for posting this Ronnie. I didn't receive the e-mail from them. Well, I guess I'm off to remove links....

Ramster 2005-12-27 03:30 PM

If anyone is interested I have a small search/replace perl script you can run off your server if you have ssh access.

LB 2005-12-27 05:34 PM

Hmmm ... another one.

Is it just me or are programs dropping faster than ever before ?

N J, I'd be interested if you don't mind. PM me, email at baberankings.com or ICQ 153906546.

"Seems" like it goes in cycles. Could also be that there are so many, maybe too many.

Its for free.

Survival of the fittest. So many sponsors are out there are clones off of other bigger, more established sites... it's a wonder that they last as long as they do.

I won't deny that the idea of running my own paysite is very, very attractive; I will also admit that I am nowhere near being able to do that yet.

I'm sure J had a very god reason to close it out ...

Sucks when any business has to close imo

It is not just you. Part of it has been the 2257 hoopla that happened earlier in June as well. Many left the industry or began implementing their exit strategy. Nice to see that it looks like secondary producer is going bye-bye though.

N J 2006-01-09 08:40 AM

2257 sure hit some, just happy to be in EU, so we didn't have go through all that.
I'm wondering what would happen if thirdparty billing stopped - would kick quite a few I believe.

It would. Those with merchant accounts would probably love the lack of competition and the greater barrier to entry however.

Yeah, would've been very risky for me to open my new program if I wasn't in the EU. Too much instability in the industry if you're in the US.
