New Google Entry Page Fetish
 

I know all you US webmasters are good boys and use entry pages with warnings but some of us dont! Anyhow I have just noticed Google has dropped four of my sites that dont have entry pages and the listings on two of the others that do (including http://strange-attractor.com/), have been changed from / to index1.html which are my entry pages. In each case ranking has been affected (If your keywords are Porno then how the f*ck do you put them on an entry page!)

Anybody else noticed this one? I am now trotting round and rewriteing some entry pages for my sites but how I keyword optimise them without being penalised for spamming and without including some explicit content I dont know. Any Ideas?

I usually don't use warning pages unless I'm building free sites, and I have plenty of sites with 4 letter words on my domain root, but I've seen no problems whatsoever (so far). I do use an ICRA tag though.

I thought maybe I was sweating for nothing cos one of my sites came back earlier, but then I noticed its one with no really rude content on the index. Sigh. Guess I will have to wait and see. Google is pissing me about so much I am getting paranoid now. Have to build 500 more sites to even things up!
