800x600?

Is this the standard for most link lists?

MadMax 2006-01-14 06:19 PM

Yup :)

To make sure the site doesn't scroll, set your tables at a max width of 750 to account for the vertical scroll bar.

MeatPounder 2006-01-14 08:42 PM

And make sure your recips combined width does not make your page too wide. This mistake is missed by many.

Yep, it's amazing how many sites I see with side scroll due to the recip table :(

Xeno 2006-01-15 07:45 AM

I personally don't have too much issue with widths of sites, unless its totally rediculous. But the one thing that does take notice are the sites that have some things that they plugin to their page that blows the layout way out.

Definitely use MadMax's suggestion of no more than750. That's what I usually use, but yesterday I used 755. Guess what happened. I did get rejected at least at one place for horizontal scroll. So, keep it skinny.

Greenguy 2006-01-15 12:13 PM

Just an FYI - no one cares about the length up & down of the page (so the 600 part is meaningless)

I always check my freesites with the link below.. to make sure i didnt made any mistakes :)

Nice plugin for Firefox that besides a bunch of other useful things adds a menu to Firefox that lets you choose screen sizes.

Do you have the session saver?

https://addons.mozilla.org/extension...nfo.php?id=436

Allows you to save sessions and reopen FF to exactly the state you like...tabs...windows...etc.. Will also restore FF to its previous state after a crash. Which by the way, the lastest version 1.5 is more crash prone...will be glad when they fix that.

But, session saver is another of my personal favorites |thumb

And for us poor unfortunates that run IE on a gulp, PC....here is a sweet toolbar from Microsoft.
Internet Explorer Developer Toolbar
The browser resize is just one of several useful tools for webmasters and designers
