Internext 2007

Anybody know the exact dates for next years convention.:D

Toby 2006-01-16 01:26 PM

It was announced at Vegas earlier this month that the dates for the next Vegas convention would be March 1-3, 2007 at the Mandalay Bay.

However, I've heard rumors that AVN is balking on the move to March. It will be interesting to see what Farley has to say on the radio show tomorrow.

Yeah I don't know if I will go again, unless they come up with something insane, otherwise really $200 bucks for a pass to that shit? AEE was a better investment.

I heard the next show won't be on the strip, but instead, in large church revival-style tents about 5 miles out in the desert. Due to booking issues, there will be some southern baptists using the tents at the same time. AVN, realizing that this could cause some major confusion, has decided to help distinguish our show from the holy rollers by using the age-old "shirts and skins" method. I believe we will be shirts, but I could be wrong.

You never know but it's not looking good for me to attend another Vegas event. There are many other shows where more business is being done, are less expensive and have more attendees. The AVN shows are the most expensive not only in costs to get on the empty show floor but in thier choice of hotels.

4 years ago when I started Vegas was the show to attend. I no longer hear that.

The times change. Unfortunately not everyone (individual or company) changes with them. |huh

SirMoby, from my point of view, the Miami show has many times more value than the vegas show does. In Miami, everyone is close at hand, people always end up back at the show hotel, and generally people can be found, met with, and talked to. I honestly saw more "power" sitting around a poker table one evening in Miami than I did in the entire time in Vegas 2005.

I had a hard time justifying $4k for a few days in Vegas this year, and besides the fact that I am not happy to have missed spending time with some of my friends, I really didn't miss anything, and I feel I am up $4k as a result! :)

When you take all of our asshole opinions into count, I can see why AVN could care less about us :D

There are those that think Vegas in Jan is wonderful & those that think it stinks. They move it to March & sad people become happy & happy people become sad.

Ramster 2006-01-16 06:28 PM

I don't care when it is as I will probably go anyway no matter when. The only time I will not go is if by chance it is the same time as the CES again. That was insane. Before, after or March and I'm game.

And in case AVN is reading this I did have a good show but ONLY because FOR NOW it is still a good place to go since a large portion of people do attend that I can do busniess with. The show floor itself was a joke and I suspect not many sponsors where happy with it.

Like SirMoby said it use to be the show to go to. It still is somewhat but it is slowly losing weight. I will be attending other shows this year like Phoenix.

You do Vegas as well as anyone GG. |thumb

I probably sound very negative about the whole thing when there are other forces at work for me. I've spent decades going to trade shows in Vegas. I'm pretty burned out on the town in general and for me I always seem to be battling the environment to get any business done.

1. I'm always looking for any city to replace Vegas. That's not the fault of AVN but all the corporate yucks in the world that I dealt with in my former life.

2. For me it seems to be getting more expensive and less productive.

Honestly I think the show still needs to be in January but maybe a couple weeks after the holiday. It's really the only month without another popular show 6 weeks a way so that's still a good month.

I'll probably save my money for shows that allow you to walk to the empty floor for less.

there was a thread on gfy about this and they are trying to move it back to January...

We're looking at various options to move it back into the early part of the year. After making the mistake of moving it to March, many people pointed out that it was just too close to the Phoenix show. So we're re-evaluating and trying to collect as much input as possible.
There were many problems with the January show. Other than the obvious registration and seminar location issues, no one really wanted to deal with that CES bunch. A lot of people didn't want to deal with AEE crowds either. A lot of people want more Greenguy. Some want more XXX Jay. We're taking it all into account.
Along those lines, if you'd like to submit any feedback or simply let us know what you'd like to see from Internext, please email me or hit me on ICQ - 277753354.

On 1/8 (the day CES closed and the day after the AVN awards) until Jan 11, there were no major shows here and the one that started 1/11 was at the Mandalay and only 40k. So maybe next year if you look at the timing, and what shows are immediately following.. you could have it run after the CES Mess.. so those who still wanted to attend AEE could and just carry over to Internext.

Yeah, that's definitely one of the major options we're looking at for '07. The only question is whether we can find a venue now.
CES and AEE for '07 are already slated, with CES running Jan. 8-11 and AEE running Jan. 11-14. We do not run either of those shows (AEE only licenses the AVN name), but the point is, they're already a little more spread out for next year. Finding a spot for Internext is the next obstacle.

Greenguy 2006-01-19 01:20 PM

Strange how this year they all met up at the same time, but next year, the obvious dates of Jan 3-7, which is right in line with all the past shows dates in Vegas, haven't been brought up.

Flights in would be cheap since everyone is leaving Vegas after New Years & flights home would be cheap since everyone is coming in for CES.

Fuck! Jan 4-6 2007 would solve every problem - away form the other 2 shows & not stepping on the toes of any other show!

mjavn 2006-01-19 01:39 PM

A lot of folks have expressed the concern of having it too close New Year's as well, since a lot of people, particularly high-rolling pornographers, travel for the holiday. The majority of the court of the public opinion has told us not to have it before AEE, since that shoots a lot New Year's plans in the ass, not to mention that people are exhausted after the holiday season in general.

Linkster 2006-01-19 02:03 PM

Sounds like the smart dates would be the 15-17th right after AEE since a bunch of sponsors/attendees would go to both and not have to rebook travel etc - with the large amount of crossovers - and I dont believe those dates would be hard to get at Venetian and would allow for much cheaper hotel room costs as well.

Greenguy 2006-01-19 03:09 PM

I guess I'll just wait for Renee to post the poll & go from there :)

Useless 2006-01-19 03:18 PM

I'm going to complain as long as Internext is more than an eight hour drive away, costs more than $100 for registration, and is located at a hotel that charges more than $120 per night. I have no intention of being reasonable. :)

It's exactly an 8 hour drive away from me so I guess I'm on the bubble. |loony|
