Did anyone else just get spammed by SlickCash?

I just rec'd a spam email from SlickCash that is essentially the same as the Jan 10 announcement that was posted here, but with embedded graphics.

I'm NOT a SlickCash affiliate, their sites don't match the niches I promote, and I've not signed up for any opt-in mailing list.

I've got it to 2 different addresses so far.

Trev 2006-01-17 10:27 PM

I got one to an email addy I haven't used for anything in a while.

I've received it to three addresses, one that is very old from when I just started with freesites. They are quite thorough.

I too received an email which I would deem UCE... unless of course I "agreed" to receive emails when submitting somewhere once...

SirMoby 2006-01-18 12:47 AM

My spam filter picked it up and it was an old email address. It's a big ass email but the first line isn't one used in many spam campaigns.

ronnie 2006-01-18 07:54 AM

I've gotten a couple too, as Sir Moby said they are big e-mails. Making a bad name for themselves before they get started. I wont be checking them out.

Yea, I got it too...but since I have signed up...no big surprise there. Too bad they're spamming folks...they do have some nice looking sites.

Sad thing is there are plenty of ethical ways to promote a program. When a sponsor takes to spamming, how do they look? Funny that on their site they have a graphic tab that says e-mail on it, which goes to a page explaining their e-mail policy. Which forbids bulk mailing, and of course any mailing must be to opt-in address's. I did'nt opt-in for slicks mailing, any one else? Just find it hypocritical when the program breaks the rules it set forth for it's affiliates. Sure does'nt build trust or credibility. I would be more likely to sign up for a program that is advertising rather than out of the blue through the mail.

A program broke it's own rules? NO WAY ;) oh well atleast they only have the 4 sites now.

Just so there is no more accusations etc. Lets put this to bed. There is another webmaster board that is very well know to everyone. We here at SlickCash made a large investment to have them help us rebrand SlickCash.com. As part of that agreement they send out emails to the members to notify people. It was not Spam!!!!!!!!!!

Greenguy 2006-01-18 02:35 PM

I don't think I got one - I feel slighted :D

We all get spam - delete it & move on...or are all of you complainers going to the source of every spam email that you get every day & taking it up with them? :D

BTW - Jim & I don't offer this option in our ads because of threads like this |thumb

Then the beginning of the email should have said WHO was sending it and why.

I don't see this, as it was delivered, as any different than buying a list of email address. That's essentially what was done, you purchased the use of their mailing list.

In my book this is still |spam| Shame on you and on the board that sold out their memberlist.

Yes, I do get a ton of spam every day. But until yesterday I'd not rec'd one from a sponsor program that I didn't belong to, nor had I received an email from a webmaster board that didn't identify itself as such up front.

Papa 2006-01-19 07:57 AM

It's going on on other boards too. This is a bad move on their part.
2cents

DollarManSteve 2006-01-19 11:58 AM

Here's my 2cents... its' probably the case that for every webmaster who cries about getting an e-mail, there are 3 who sign up for the program so it's worth the 'bad publicity'.

Kenny B! 2006-01-23 12:26 PM

Oh please, it's an announcement, if you were getting 10 emails a day from them it's one thing but a one time announcement is fine in my books. I don’t want to get into the debate of any unsolicited email is spam, like GG said, just delete it and move on!
