Niche sites or Amateur

I was curious as to what the general outlook on niches are among the diffrent boards and respective members...
1.BBW
2.Milf
3.swingers
are these sites a niche or a micro niche of amateur to you...

optional question is are these niches you promote and see profit in or not?

I've always thought that there are general sites, pornstar sites, amateur sites & gay sites, where pretty much every niche can be associated with each.

Example:
Chubby BBW is a general bbw site
BBW Hot Movies is a pornstar bbw site (sorta)
Curvy Angel is an amateur bbw site
(and I'm sure there's a fat gay site out there, but I can't find it right now)

I'm not sure exactly what your question is, but I'll give you my two cents as someone who's been running an "amateur/niche/fetish" site for 3 years.

Pick something that you love, something that turns *you* on. Sell what you *know*, not what seems like the latest fad. Don't pick a certain niche because some board tells you that it's profitable. I see so many niche/fetish sites run by people who obviously don't understand their audience in the least bit, and I can't imagine they convert that well. Selling something you know and love will be more fun, and in the long run, should be more profitable, too.

there is of course going to be profit in every niche.. You can cross promote rather easily as well using small thumbs and text links in your pages..

To answer your question, I would say they are individual niches, but that doesn't mean to say you can't sell milfs on the same page as bbws through text links, etc :)

There is money to be made in all the niches. Just filter the traffic to the niche. You might have the site/page/blog/hub (whateva) centered on Tig All Bitty Pornstars, but you can have links sprinkled around with other niches to filter the traffic to a page/site/blog etc. that centers around other shit. So you provide the surfers with options if they don't see something they want on the current niche. Or trade links to other stuff...just to get a surfer to what he wants and hopefully what the surfer wants to pull the wallet out for. |headbang|

I think you could say they were all amateur if they are presented that way. I mean if you have a MILF site and all the content looks like an amateur has taken the pics and they are not in a studio then it would be amateur, same with the others.

I would always put "swingers" as amateur though.

I agree with GG that they are general in nature. You can make them anything you like.

I'm never really sure where to draw the line between pornstar and amateur though. And they can also have Str8 or Gay categories.

Pornstars shoto in a studio...amateurs shoot in their bedrooms :D

I agree that these are the "top" of the food chain although I would add in Fetish as the other top category - then all the niches would fall under those although they can fit under any top category as in your examples.

For the original post I would definitely not call those micro-niches - they are second level general categories - wheras a micro-niche might be "milf swinger midgets"

Greenguy 2006-01-22 08:49 AM

Linkster - I've always felt that there are fetishes off of those - hell, some people consider anal sex a "fetish" :)

Greenie - I agree - I guess its an old standard Ive always used on the biz side to try to distinguish the terms fetish and niche as different items :)

These are typically niche subsets of amateur. Milf is the most popular of the bunch but oddly "swinger" used to be the same as "milf". BBW is also quite popular though you would never guess it from the way that ignorant webmasters scorn it.

I think it's time to rethink amateur. I have been promting nichebucks for 4 years now and I have noticed the quality of content getting better and better. I notice this with sponsors like ATK also.
So what is amateur? Back in the old days it was easy to spot this type of content and there are still plenty of amateur sites out there, but when I think about 'mature' or milf, amateur doesn't come to mind anymore.
Thoughts on this one?

taking all the comments into consideration i have a few questions... if a BBW shoots in a studio she is then a pornstar??
is milf and mature the same??
will a webmaster that promotes BBW make money even if he doesnt like to look at it?

lol of course you can make money even if you don't "care" for the niche. I you really loathe it I doubt you can. It's always easier to promote something you like. lol

I have to agree with GunnCat..I hardly ever find true amateur style content on the majority of sponsors so called "amateur" paysites..the pics look way too professional anymore..there are a few out there that do have the right looking content..but even some solo girl sites have totally gone towards the perfectly lit, pornstar style, photoshopped image look with their content...Does the avg surfer see this and realize the difference? probably not, but the true amateur lover will pass those sites by.

Now the MILF thing..in my opinion a milf is 30 to about 45..but I see plenty of 23-5 year olds being presented as a milf... sure they could have kids but to me thats a stretch and hard to sell...
and these days mature content, which used to be the milf age range, is almost always pushing granny age women...lol

Things have changed over the last few years, and in some ways I think the lines have blurred a bit too much..probably brought on by the "Reality" type of sites which could be any age model.

I do true amateur and its getting harder to find good sites with the right content and style to promote.

Back to the original topic...I think BBW, MILF and Swingers are their own niches (especialy with SE traffic) and thats the targeted audience you want to go after..not so much the general amateur niche traffic. They COULD and ARE part of the amateur category..but really MILF's and BBW's could be presented as glossy pornstar style content as well.

Swingers? they are really a seperate niche of their own..and closer to amateur than anything else.
