Link List/directory question

Greetings my fellow Link directory and link list webmasters :)

This has been my mind for awhile. What is everyones opinion on how you list sites in your database when it comes to listing, webmaster submitted sites, Paysites, affiliate sites?

Is it better to keep these separated or integrated into the niche categories:

Directory separated as:
1. Pay Sites Category with niche sub-categories
2. Free Sites Category " "
3. AVS Sites Category " "

Or just integrate them for a mix in each niche category for a variety for the surfer.

I think surfers would view the paysite links as blind if they were listed amongst the free site listings without any form of differentiation. They'd feel swindle, bamboozled, buggered. If you identify each link individually like DD, they you're fine.

It's been something that has bothered me when I did this new upgrade to the current site and thinking...hmmm...a friend of mine suggested I should have a Paysite section and a section for the Free Sites. Perhaps with my new upgrade coming up in a short while, I should keep them separate or find a way to script it so that it adds an icon or something next to the site's name if its an AVS, Pay, or Free....question is, which would be better.

Thanks UW
