Google Sitemap probs

Lately I've been experimenting with google sitemaps and have a few things I can't find anything about on their help pages so maybe I can get some answers here.

1. So I created one of those fancy xml sitemaps and put it in my google sitemap account. A few days later I'm checking google to see if the pages I put on there are indexed already...

site:teenspanker.com

I get 21 results (of 23 urls added to the sitemap)... So far so good, half a day later I do the check again... only 2 results are showing (the same 2 that were already indexed before I uploaded the sitemap) after refreshing about 5 times I get the 21 results again. But every time I go back to the google homepage and search for my indexed pages it shows me only 2 results with the 1st search... This has been happening for almost a week now.
Anyone got an explanation for this?

2. For some reason I can't get my site verified, I created an html file, named it like google told me to name it, uploaded it, and tried to verify it already 4 times now. The result is always the same after google tried to verify the site: "SITE NOT VERIFIED". I'd like to see some of those nice stats so feel free to help me out here :)

Thanx.

1. Fonz, there are a *few* Google DCs out there. Depending on which one you get you'll see different results. Try searching on http://216.239.59.147/ (21 results) and http://64.233.171.99/ (2)

2. I had the verify bug before; I don't remember how I got around it, except I clicked "verify" a few more times and waited.

Yeah. There are about four different reasons this can happen. Firstly Google does not consider your other pages to be relevant to your index. This often happens if you have a very low relevant text content on your index page. Secondly if you have set the re-index after value to less than a month. Never do this - google actually only takes that as a hint and decides you are trying to spam it if you put fast re-index times in and the content does not change between every visit. Thirdly your server is glitching and google is getit 404 or 403 or your server is set up to deliver non-standard error pages like 404 redirects. See below. Finally it may be that your main keywords are in the middle of a 'google quake' and they are re-evaluating their index as it is relevant to this keyword. Here is a good checking tool http://www.mcdar.net/dance/index.php
if the datacenter results are not all the same for your keyword then you cant rely on googles index since sites will be dropping off, sometimes for days, and re-appearing.

If you do anything funny with the html errors Sitemap looks for this before it verifies since it throws them right off. Ie they try to fetch "hotpornoblackchicks.html" and the server glitches, the 404 redirects them to "mytgp.com", they try to re-eindex this page as the new verion of "hotpornoblackchicks.html". to detect this the sitemaps bot throws some deliberate errors and analyses what it gets back. If its not a vanilla error page it WILL refuse to verify you. I have found that if your redirect has the correct error wording 404 Not Found - redirected to (real page title) in its title then you will get away with it (on a Zeus server anyway).
