This might be a dumb question, but why the fuck did you let them register your domain in their name?

Toby 2006-02-12 10:34 AM

Do a search for SkilledHost and you'll find several discussions of similar problems. Getting your domains back may be more costly than they are worth.

Project4 2006-02-12 10:55 AM

well..it was my mistake to register domains with them... :(

Project4 2006-02-12 10:57 AM

I did a search and read everything, but no real solutions was found...

SirMoby 2006-02-12 11:52 AM

You're going to need a lawyer my friend.

I know that there is a big number of webmasters who lost alot of money because of skilledhost...but how come they still be in the biz?... they keep fooling and cheating people...how come??? Is there any online organization that can really do something about it?

Kacy 2006-02-12 12:52 PM

You are right, this is crazy that they can get away with that, but there is no place to report them unfortunately.

I guess you could report to like BBB online, but it probably won't matter.

We register domain names too, but NOT in OUR name, WTF that is just a sad tactic on their part. Guess they are not confident enough in their services that they have to keep you there by holding your domain hostage.

Sorry to hear of your trouble :(

Beaver Bob 2006-02-12 01:04 PM

that sucks bro.. sorry to hear they fucked you like that :(

Project4 2006-02-12 01:50 PM

well...I duess the only thing I can do in this case is to prevent other webmasters from having any kind of biz with unskilledhost... :(

Greenguy 2006-02-12 02:13 PM

Another dumb question...Is it in their TOS that they put the domains in their own name?

fetish1 2006-02-12 02:22 PM

HOW many threads are you going to start about this??

Project4 2006-02-12 02:44 PM

Like I said before.. report them to the BBB, but also the FTC! http://www.ftc.gov/ the FTC deals with this type of thing all the time. If they feel there is a violation, they will take action, and can shut them down.

Complaint form https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01

skilledhost.com isn't even a business. It is a one man show reselling hosting out of his bedroom. FILE THE COMPLAINT! That is the only way you will bring some attention to this guy.

Try contacting registerfly and see what they have to say.

tigermom 2006-02-15 08:56 AM

If your sites/domains are making money, by all means, hire a lawyer and sue them.

glowlite 2006-02-15 04:01 PM

SkilledHost.com has been shut down.

later ...............

Project4 2006-02-18 02:51 PM

thanks everyone for information and special thanks to twintone! I'm gathering all kind of complaints about skilledhost and soon will send everything to FTC, BBB and registrfly!
