Need a review and some advice

This is my latest, which I plan on submitting tomorrow.

Some background about me might be necessary at this point. I have 5 years of web publishing experience in mainstream. I have over 70 mainstream sites and right now 95% of my income is from that. I'm a beginner in adult.

In mainstream it's generally assumed that surfers have become blind to all forms of banners and the best way to get them to click and buy is by using text links only.

Hence, my design here makes relatively little use of ads. I do have about one small banner per page and an image I put together for my ad on the main page but that's it.

Also, in the main page, I went with a review kind of page by the personna I want to develop for this hub. I really did visit the site I'm promoting (the members area), so the review is "for real" in that sense. It's also there as spider food for the SE's. I wonder what old-timers here think about this approach?

I totally agree with you on the banners, I've been trying to make more text oriented sites too and tracking them to see what happens. Plus it's more fun making up the text than just slapping a banner up ;)

couple of things I did notice - the banner on the top of the index page should be unlinked as it may be considered blind (thumbs)
the other is the gallery links are pretty low on the main page, this may or may not cause you problems.

I didn't really look at anything else so see what other comments come in but I did want to say it's one of the nicer looking sites I've seen in a while :)

not bad I agree with pony girl about the ad on the index, also you shouldnt have to scroll that much to find the gallery links on the main..

I also unlinked the image there. Not sure about the placement of the gallery links there - do you think the site could be rejected on that account? I don't want to place them at the top or in the middle of the text, unless I absolutely have to.

Also, ponygirl, did you see more sales with the text-rich sites?

If there were a lot of other problems with the site it might be a deciding factor, but I wouldn't reject that one just for the gallery links.

What I'm noticing lately are sales coming from older sites subbed 3 months + ago, which is nice :) but I wasn't tracking as well as I am now, so it's hard to tell. I think text can catch the eye more than banners sometimes, and there are more click-thrus on the text if it's written well (read: horny :D) but it still depends on the niche, tour & site too. I guess what I'm trying to say is yes, I think more sales will come with the text, but it's a combination of everything around the text too :)

I know what you're saying, and yes text is good. Gives something for search engines to spider -- for that rare search engine hit.

But IMO, men are visual animals, which is why I think that the combination of text and banners is what appears to work best, which is why it has become the standard forumlae for free-site builders.

As far as the links too low on the main page to your galleries, they might consider that a full page ad before content with the gallery links that low, and some of the bigger lists do not allow that.

Might try tabling some of your text to one side, with the gallery links on the other side, to still have your ad, but would shove the links higher on up the page.

This isn't the best example, but I had a big text ad on the left, then wrapped the gallery links on the right around a banner, but you get the idea where you have links to your gallery on the side of your ad, and avoid having them too far down the page. I'd of been better off with a shorter banner on the right in this case, so the Gallery 2 isn't off what they call "the first scroll" of the page.

How many recips can I have? I'll be happy to add recips to 3 more LL's if that's ok?

Oh, and thanks again for the reviews. I guess I see your point about it being possibly considered a full page ad. I'll try playing around with those gallery links, maybe the way you suggested Virgina - thanks!

Yea, those links are buried a bit on the main page. Not something I'd reject the site for...but other reviewers may.

As to how many recips you can have, I've seen sites with 20 recips that still looked good. But, you almost have to go with custom recips to achieve/maintain a clean look with that many recips. Using the individual recips from each site can get more than a bit haphazard looking with 20. There have been a few threads about custom recips and I recall the consensus being that most link sites do allow them as long as their anchor text/links remain intact.

Forgot to mention...I've done text only free sites, and have found that a combination of text with banners always worked best for me in the long run.

Thanks again guys. I've made some major changes to the main page now. Rearranged the text and put enter buttons (designed too :D) further up the page. I also added banners to the text ads.

I really want to get this game right and I'm only just beginning, so I think I don't want to mess around with recip codes just yet. Maybe down the road. I'll leave this site with 15 recips for now. But I do plan on submitting 1 FR a day at least for the next few weeks, to see how this is working. I plan on trying various LL's and keep the ones that bring me the best traffic overtime. I already submitted to you Virginia (thanks for the quick approval btw!) and I will be doing so again, for sure!

You are welcome! I do 16 - 20 recips all the time, and personally, I make custom tables because the look sooo much neater, and all the big link lists allow them as long as you keep their title tags and linking text they want intact, and they don't end up real huge.

If you use CSS sheets, what I do is form all my tables and use a style tag for instance Then that way, when I build a new site and change my recip tables to look different, I change the code on my style sheet and new colors! |thumb

You are welcome on the quick approval, MadHatter checks the link lists, and trys to check several times a day to get new sites listed quickly. He just never posts, lol. I do all the design, sponsor sites, build free sites, etc. etc. and he checks links.

Actually, I think this may actually increase CTR to the LL's if the design is less flashy and bannery and the locations are changed on the page (and yes, always above the Enter link ;))

your site looks fine. Only thing I noticed that you don't have your keywords (from meta tags) in the text. It would look much better for SEs when they find it in text, title tags, image alt text etc.

It is not really a mistake since you won't get many hits from SEs anyway, but those you do get might convert into $$. Of course, after you made 500 sites, combined SE traffic will be great. :)

Thanks, my target phrase is in the title tag and no in the meta tags, and I tried to focus on that (it's the site's name basically, as I want it as the anchor text in the incoming links as well). Actually the meta tags are a bit off-theme on purpose so the site doesn't look overly SEO'ed, which could get penalized. Not sure if it will help, as they say most SE's don't even read the meta tags anymore, but I figured it can't hurt ;)
