SPONSOR CHALLENGE - Mayors Money! Put up or pay up! TGP traffic test - Stats inside!

Last week I started a thread asking if any sponsor could guarantee that their traffic converts better than 1:1,000 with a mix of TGP and LinkList traffic. And the response was awesome, a lot of sponsors afirmed that they would convert better.

So I started a challenge: would any sponsor put their money where their mouth is? That's right, I dared the sponsors to put up or pay up!

Since the response was awesome I decided to share the stats of each and all sponsors I test with you guys. So each 15 days I'll be testing a new sponsor, I'll let him tell me which sites convert better and I'll send 5k unique clicks to each site to test. And ALL the stats will be posted on the boards.

The first sponsor that approached me accepting the challenge was Mayors Money. Wizzo himself told me to send the traffic to 3 sites of his program: Brooke Skye, Faith Belle and Snatches. And he promissed me that if I didn't convert better than 1:1,000 he would pay me $100 cash.

The first stats will be posted this wednesday, but so far I have to say that I have been impressed with what I've seen.

SPONSOR CHALLENGE is born, and I'll update the site at least once a week with the results. I'll also post a more detailed stats at the end of the test and I'll give my review if the sponsor is worth it or not!

Stay tuned guys, this is your chance to see how the sponsors really convert with TGP traffic, and not just some bs account rep talk.

I'm telling you right now, if you post a link to next week's test, you will be banned.

Ok, I won't.

Can you just tell me why?

I'm just curious but do the sponsors know the affiliate codes being used or the traffic sources?

Of course they do, but you can throw that argument at anyone that posts their stats, myself included :D

Because net weeks sponsor is banned form this (and many other) boards.

Honestly, the only reason that your site is not banned because of the association with them is that I want to see how this 1st test goes.

I didn't know that, I won't be posting their results.

Mayor's Money has a great reputation so I think thier test will show accurate results but couldn't another program simply show whatever results they chose?

GG, in your case they'd have to give you increased sales for years but won't many programs throw in extra sales just to increase the ratios for a single week? This just seems silly since a sponsor doing poorly can just add additional sales and then have someone publish the false results for them.

I would bet that Mayor's Money will show accurate results but I'll also bet that within 6 weeks a program will at least be tempted to pad the results. Of course this is great for Sponsor Challenge since they will get the extra payouts but terrible for other webmasters.

I do agree with you SirMoby - the span of the test does back up your theory (and reminds me of potential problems with the old Sponsor Tryouts that failed miserably for us)

tranza - have you thought about doing away with the $100 thing & just blindly testing programs so that you knew the results were 100% accurate?

(and these comments have NOTHING to do with Wizzo & Mayor's Money - I love those guys & feel confident that the results would be accurate)

SirMoby 2006-02-22 10:05 AM

Let me express that I do respect Tanza and his partner Shadow professionally so I mean no disrespect in any way. I also feel that Mayor's Money will post accurate results so I think we can agree that there are some good and honest people involved.

Since Mayor's Money is first they'll set the baseline and other sponsors will want to match or do better. The more press that Sponsor Challenge gets the more likely it is that the information will be incorrect. If the sponsors knows the sites, the affiliate code or any of the information that might be used when you sign up the stats cannot be trusted.

The only way to post stats is over a long period of time so that it becomes very expensive for the sponsor to pay a higher rate. For 2 weeks and 5k hits per program, most sponsors will have no problem paying out extra sign ups to get numbers below the baseline.

The only way this could have worked is if you were totally anonymous and it's too late for that now.

Mayors Money stats - 194,141 clicks to the galleries, screen cap of sales inside

Mayors Money challenge is still going on!

So far we've sent 194,141 to our galleries promoting their sites. Here are the results:

http://www.sponsorchallenge.com/mayors/022206.jpg

CTR for Faith: almost 2%
CTR for Brooke: just over 1%
CTR for Snatches: 0.6% !

You can find all the detailed info here: http://www.sponsorchallenge.com

The traffic just started to build up, I hope Mayors Money can keep up with this convertion, and I also hope that I improve my CTR for Snatches.

PS: Can't I post this info on the main board?

Really only one thread was needed for this. I merged them.
