Microcraps IE7 browser
OMG….whatever you do, do not download IE7 beta….it sucks to the extreme!! I tried it and reviewed it and within 5 minutes I posted my reviews and comments to microsoft beta forum. It totally destroys all CSS and divs and forms are buggy as well in sites. The interface is absolutely horrible. Also, when you install it, it totally takes out your IE6 ….now I have some bugs happening on my computer when I went to remove the beta 7 (this happened with someone else too). I read a lot of the comments from beta testers of it. They all pretty much hate it and there are comments about IE refusing to be compliant and with the standards of W3 etc…
Looks like if IE goes ahead with this IE, there should be a mass boycott of IE7 with webmasters, developers, and others. |
Thanks !!!
Reminds me to stick to Firefox |
Have no plans to download it. Thanks.

thanks for the heads up Netgoonie!

"We would like to once again thank Bill Gates and Microsoft for continuing to do what THEY do, so that we can find more and more new users every day. Keep up the good work guys!"
Sincerely, The Mozilla Foundation :D |
Im glad I only use firefox now.
I do test my pages in IE but thats it. |

Did you know there's an extension that allows you to pop pages open in IE for review? I had problems with FF 1.5...damn thing was locking up a couple times/day. The latest version seems to be back to its old stable self though |thumb |

The point to the FF extension is being able to view your sites FF...and at a click also check it in IE. |
Fucking amazing, this doesn't surprise me. They say "it's beta" but past experience tells me this version wont be too different from their production release. If you make excessive use of CSS and DIVs and design for IE, Firefox, and Opera you will know how much trickery needs to be done to get consistant behavior between all three. Most of the time its IE being the prick.
And I suppose it all breaks in IE7. If they prove me wrong they'll still be cunts. |
Evrsoft 2006 uses 4 browsers of (your choice) to view your work. It also lets you select several resolutions to cross check with. Both are part of the editing screen toolbar.
Saves a hell of a lot of work. Oh, and it's free! |
Ever since MrYum introduced me to FF I have been relying on it more and more and since I've read this thread, I think I will make it my browser of choice. It really is a shame that MS is mucking with their market base. Funny thing about customers, once you piss them off they never come back.

I wonder if there's a version that works with Mozilla? The die hard Netscape user in me prefers that over FireFox. |

Then, there's the 'screen grab' extension...also very handy...but I digress :D Beyond any possible security benefits of FF, the extensions and adaptability of the browser are what converted me. There are some tools that make my job as a webmaster a LOT easier :) |
Thx MrYum, I love my right click. :D
I just went and checked, and yes there is a version of the extension available for Mozilla. |bananna| |

To the converts...my pleasure in helping you see the light :D
You're absolutely right Odysseus...the vast majority of the surfing public will continue to use IE. Hell, most of the surfing public doesn't even know what the word 'browser' means...they click that blue 'e' and they're on the internet...that's all they know. But, I do try to share FF with my webmaster friends because it's quite simply a better...more versatile product |thumb |
I've always been a "tinkerer" of sorts and started using mozilla before firefox was out, which is before I started working online. I loved mozilla and have been nothing but happy with firefox. There are plenty of extensions I use every day now that I wouldn't know what to do without. It's funny, since I check my pages in IE, I use IE more now than when I was a surfer.

Thanks for the info NetGoonie. I'll definitely wait for stable version to upgrade.
Personally I find Firefox enough for my work, with that mentioned IE viewer. BTW Firefox tends to lock up because of bad extension scripts, so the best way is to remove extension by extension until it works again, and then reinstall those that work ok. A bit tedious but worth it. |

I like FF more!

I've mentioned this in another place I go to....basically I see a potential problem with "existing" websites that were originally built to work in IE5, IE6, firefox, etc...but you would think if these worked in IE5 and 6 that IE7 would as well (so far, no). So the concern that many (even 1000's) of sites will not display correctly and be messed up with IE7's full release.
Granted, most people were long-ago forced (without realizing it) to use IE and they have made it the most used browser, so yes we have to build for that market priority. So when IE7 is released, building sites for it will happen, but foresee a more difficult time ahead. Going back to our existing sites (and mainstream sites that designers and design agencies have developed for their clients) I am guessing this is the sign of what is to be, what a mess to clean up to make IE6 sites work in IE7 now. More so if using css/divs. |
Now that's a scarry fricken thought. I wonder if link list owners and other site owners will go through their links and delete if a site that was once approved now looks screwey in IE7. Any thoughts on this?
