Don Knotts, the skinny, lovable nerd who kept generations of television audiences laughing as bumbling Deputy Barney Fife on "The Andy Griffith Show," has died. He was 81.

My wife and I have kind of a contest that I win most times because of this board. When a celebrity dies, the first one to say it, wins. So yesterday, my Daughter who is really my Step-Daughter calls the house number. My wife was in the basement so I answered the phone. I said I will get your Mother and she says "Don Knots died". Just tell her I said that :)

It seems she put herself in the game :)

That skinny little under dog with a big heart sure made people laugh. He will be missed.

Just found out about this today, cant believe I did'nt see it before. This is a big bummer. Don might have been a nerd of goofey, but I think he was a great actor. My favorite show is Andy Griffith, watch it on tvland all the time, that show sure would have not been the same with out him, he really made it. Never was as good after he left. Still think it was some of his best acting.
