Acacia shutting down davidlace.com?!
Yes it is true... here are the news.
David Lace announces 4 day ' Hating Acacia Sale'. Latest Acacia News! They Hi-Jacked Our Domain Name! For those of you familiar with Acacia Research you will fully understand our new "Hating Acacia Sale" (LOL). And if you are not familiar with Acacia then be very thankful and enjoy the sale. :) We at Lace Studios just learned yesterday that the Acacia guys were actually able to place a hold on our domain name laceproductions.com virtually shutting down our content site for a few hours. They did this by serving papers to the registrar of this domain GODADDY.COM. According to GODADDY.COM's legal department they chose to "take down the site" and said "we have to wait until we hear from the courts regarding this domain." And we received no advance notice whatsoever from GODADDY regarding their decision. Of course this was really no big deal as we have multiple mirror sites. But shows the lengths that these guys will go to try to enforce this "patent" they claim to have. Now The GOOD NEWS. Always looking on the bright side we decided to have our first "Hating Acacia Sale". So for the next 4 days Everyone wins! Take an additional 30% discount off all Lace Products - Even those already on sale! Please use the domain http://lacecontentworld.com to login to our content site. And please remember to update your bookmarks to our site. Thanks and props to Allofem as usual, Dravyk and Electra rock. |
Interesting. |banghead|
Why is it that in the last few weeks all the domain issues have involved GoDaddy.com? |
Interesting.. and unsubstantiated!
Lots of blaming but no facts... Why did they get shutdown? Why were Lace singled out? Why were the papers served? Sounds like a good way to have a sale??? Yes I am being synical. I am not saying it isnt true... I would just like to see some facts. DD |
DD,
there were lots of threads about this at GFY ion July maybe... davidlace.com was one of the first 5 adult providers sued by Acacia and they did not even grace the court with their presence so lost... Search their archives. I am not spamming not using my ref code, nor does David who's site disappeared yesterday so i was worrying about them and the news comes from Dravyk at Allofem. Funniest thing is that USA Video claims it has a patent that pre-dates Acacia's patents. They are claiming the ownership to the process of downloading videos from a (web) server. USA Video is suing MovieLink.com for patent infringement. USA Video becomes the THIRD company that FightThePatent.com is tracking. Imagine the absurd situation that Acacias wins their patent lawsuits and websites are forced to pay their "licensing fees" |
And there is a company which claims they own the dvd patent, picture this!
Sounds like a brand new business to me, the patenting industry. |
