First, I'd like to thank Ana and Bunky for dropping by The Walrus Blog and laying a little comment luv on the Walrus. I love that shit.

I'd also like to invite the rest of you boneheads (ok, so The Walrus is coming out in me a little) to do the same. Just be a little creative and not too spammy, please.

In return, I'll eventually drop by your blog and do the same only depositing a link to one of my other blogs.

Boogie, if your around, how about reviving that lesson on trackbacks you did many many many months ago. I'm gonna be posting some fan signs in the near future and think it would be well within The Walrus style to do a trackback to you inappropriate fan sign post. If I could just figure out how!

Actually I think we all can use more comment luv... even if it not from our surfers but from each other.

Hell, commenting... REAL commenting, is part of blogging, and it's vital to a sites growth, just as much as interesting content.

How to trackback a wordpress blog;

Lets imagine you are reading my blog and see this entry about Mellisa Midwest being arrested again;

The ease of trackbacking is simple.

1) Find the trackback url to use
2) create a post that mentions the article and links to the blog you found it from, and/or the article you found it from.
3) Two choices here to trackback
a) Check your preferences in your options to see if your blog supports "autoatmically try to trackback linked articles" if so turn this on. This may work quite easily and fast for you.
B) manually trackback by turning on "Advanced options" in your "write" UI, and including the "trackback url" you copied from the entry into the appropriate field.

So for example if I were to do it manually...

I visit the article;
http://www.boogie-blog.com/the-unusu...sa-midwest.htm

I look for the trackback url by doint a CNTRL-F find for "trackback".

Supply that trackback url into the appropriate field as I'm writing the article...

the automatic trackback will be submitted to the original author for approval.
