Noob at video

Hey guys
I have never really made movie free sites, for one reason and another, but I am thinking about starting.
I have been working on a new hub and got some wmv's from a sponsor which I cut up and made into mpg's. This page is mostly just a test for the movies for now. They work fine on my pc and fine if you download them but they break in the browser.
They are on this page: http://www.nudegymcam.com/nudegymcam.html

Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Or do they work for you?
Thanks in advance. |thumb

Nope they don't work here. You don't have an htaccess issue do you?

natalie 2006-03-13 01:02 AM

Damn, nope that was one of my first ideas too so I deleted my htaccess to check it.

Something is up. I clicked several times and loaded it several times with differing results. But never playing :(

Natalie, I mirrored your movie clip on one of my site directories with no .htaccess restrictions, and it also showed up broken, so I'm pretty sure it's not an .htaccess problem. What did you use to cut up your clips?

I used Cucusoft Mpeg/Mov/RMVB/Divx/AVI to DVD/VCD/SVCD Converter Lite. I think it makes only mpeg2 could that be the prob? I will test some other stuff today and see what happens. Like I said I have no idea about video but I assume theres mpeg4 for a reason lol.

ok I am a dick that was the problem. I just tested it with a demo of some software and they work. Now I need to make sure I buy something that does what I need lol. Instead of whats cheap.

hmm I have found a program that does what I want but I have a question...
The files save as mp4, is it ok to put them up with that file extension? And will it still work fine if I add mp4 to my htaccess?
When I did a test with another program I just renamed the mp4 to mpeg and they worked but this time when I did that they didn't work anymore.

Save it to the default and you should be fine :D

mp4? I havent seen sites submitted to me using that extension that I can think of. I have no idea if you are just teasing me. I think I will come back to all this when I am in a better mood, its driving me crazy.

Hehe I never know with you lol. Ya so does mine but would you list a free site that used em? And would the majority of surfers be able to play them? I assume my htaccess would work for em if I just add mp4 to the list.

I could put it in my broadband cat and they could...

Hi Natalie,

When I play the movies they only last 1 second except for the last one which is 20 seconds.

I once got this link from a sponsor to split videos.

Hope it helps

Surfn 2006-03-15 10:50 AM

The ones you submitted last evening work fine :D

natalie 2006-03-15 04:41 PM

Hi Troy, thanks for looking. I have sorted it out now but just havent fixed those ones. I just hadnt wanted to bump the thread to tell everyone lol. I am a bit embarassed once I worked out what I was doing wrong. The first time I did them in mpeg2 and when they didnt work I figured they need a step up so I used mpeg4 lol, which is used for other stuff, not really web.... It turned out I just needed to use mpeg1, lol stoopid me thought newer would = better. Its really hard to find the right info on this sort of thing in google. Anyway the reason those now don't work but will later today is that I got pissed off and converted the mp4 files that I had ended up with back to mpeg1. I just need to start afresh on them.

And yes Surfn those ones work cos I havent touched them LOL.

This site http://www.dvdrhelp.com/ would be a good start in the future if you have any concerns or questions regarding videos
