What blogging script does everyone use? I'm thinking of starting a portal site, that has a blog on it, and I want to do it on a stand alone site, not on one of the free blogger sites. What script does everyone use? I haven't a clue where to start, everything seems to lead me to back to the free blogging sites. |

A lot of folks will recommend this to you... http://wordpress.org/ It's the one I'm figuring out now. :) |

I use Wordpress 2 on my blog but I've been playing around with Joomla just to see how it works. It's really quite massive in terms of what it can do. It has a blog component but it also has so many other bits that you could conceivably use it as a portal. I just wish I knew more about PHP, I'd be making Joomla sites all over the place. |

From a look and feel standpoint, the Joomla templates are pretty cool too. My blogging tools site is a Joomla site and I personally think the template rocks. |

Thanks all, going to look at them. Thanks too whoever moved this thread, I feel like a doofus, I didn't even notice this had a blogging section, lol. |

It's a very hush-hush, secret, shifty-eyed, special gadgets part of the board... Psst. Would you like to buy an "O"? :D |

I use drupal for http://www.strippedgalleries.net/ and http://www.deletedbrain.com/ you can get it here. http://drupal.org/ it's not just a blogging script but a content management system. Very easy to use. |

I use Movable Type for my blogs, love it. ronnie |

I use my own custom scripts, but if you want to start a portal with a blog, I recommend you check out www.cmsmatrix.org |

Movabletype here. Not the easiest to setup but has lots of plugins and features. |

I think i'm the only one that uses blogger.com and i've got a pretty complex site. The only thing that blogger.com can't do like WP can is the scheduling of posts. but it's a good start. I don't like WP for the simple mod_rewrite thing it does to achieve SE friendly URLs. I just don't like it. *shrug* |
