Google Adsense bot?
 

Out of general curiousity, why would I be receiving visits from a bot labeled 'Google Adsense' when I don't use any Adsense advertising? It has stopped by a couple of times in the last few days, peeked at my category pages and drove away. What's up wit dat, yo?

Could be that one or more of your inbound links come from a site(s) using adsense.

Ha, I forgot this threaded existed. Someone already told the answer. The older free version of Opera had Adsense built in. When someone browsing with it hits your site, it triggers the Adsense bot thingamajiggy, technically speaking.

lol I never would have guessed that. I like these threads though. They're a lot like crossword puzzles. I sat for about 10 mins trying to work this out, thinking ref spam, frames, then my suggestion. Good to know the answer anyway! :)
