A question about multiple index pages...

Hi all. Some of you may remember me as "Coolegypt". I used to make and submit sites, as well run a few linklists, way back in 1997 to 2001. Then I got away from things for a while. But I am back and looking to make and submit sites again. It's been quite a re-education to read everyone's posts. Many things have changed but much is the same also.

There is one question that I have not been able to find an answer for... How do you sitemakers handle having more recips than are appropriate for one page? And how do you linklist owners prefer it to be handled? So for example let's say I have identified 24 or 36 linklists that I want to submit to in the categories that I specialize in. I think that more than 12 recips is probably not good, so I would like to actually make 2 or 3 index pages with 12 recips each. Is this how you guys handle that? Are most linklist owners okay with that approach? So is it okay to have index.html, index2.html, index3.html?

I think that back in the "old days" that is how we approached it, but I am not clear if that is still a generally accepted practice.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi,

I have 12 recips on my each index page and I haven't problem with acceptation by link lists owners.

It's recommended to name 'index' each page with your recip list, not 'index', 'index2' 'index3' etc.

for example:
http://www.thekaktus.com/03/booty_vi...esome-fucking/

http://www.thekaktus.com/03/booty_vi...me-fucking-nd/

http://www.thekaktus.com/03/booty_vi...me-fucking-rd/

http://www.thekaktus.com/03/booty_vi...me-fucking-th/

I hope it will be helpful.

Regards,
Kaktus

That IS helpful Kaktus, thank you. I couldn't figure out how everyone is using index.html pages but only 12 or so recips, and what you said explains it.

Hi Coolegypt! I remember you! I went by Vegas Babe back then, moved out of Vegas, so go by Virginia now, sometimes RedCherry. :D

I've listed 16 recips and up to 20 recips, and I tend to do custom boxes, so that the recips fit in the space better. Most of the bigger link lists don't mind if you do this, as long as you keep their linking text, and any title tags the same.

Something like this:

Lately, I've been building 2 "doorways" I guess you'd call it, where the sites are called different names, pics are renamed, and they are optimized for 2 different SE keyword phrase. That way, they don't look to SE's so much like duplicate doorways. Doesn't take me that much longer to do it, but figure it will pay off in the long run.

Good luck! Hope to see some submits at our link lists. |thumb

Hi RC! Nice to see another "oldtimer" around!

Thanks much for that input - it also is very helpful. I think I have the right idea now as far as start pages.

Looking forward to submitting to many of you (and getting rejected, until I figure out everyone's expectations again!). :o)
