Fusker problems...

I recently dropped AdBrite because of the whole fusker theng, so I signed up an adengage.com, got approved and set everything up.

Well, check this out:

http://www.adengage.com/create_ad.cfm?site_id=3917&fd=y

Fusker is on Adengage.com as well!

I already sent them a message about it.
Anyone else wish to complain to them as well?
I just hope I don't need to drop adengage as well.
If this keeps up I won't be able to do business with anyone at all -lol!

tortus32 2006-04-04 11:49 AM

Bump!

I guess no one cares about this?

RawAlex 2006-04-04 12:03 PM

Adengage was, if I remember correctly, basically created to replace adbrite for Fusker.

Alex

tortus32 2006-04-04 12:05 PM

So is everyone going to start emailing these people about this or not?

RawAlex 2006-04-04 12:25 PM

It isn't really the same issue as Adbrite. Adbrite is run by AVN, which is the company that "leads" this industry. TedJ is a utility programmer rom socal that does a bunch of different things, and adengage is one of them.

He doesn't appear to have anything real to do with the adult business.

Alex

tortus32 2006-04-04 12:34 PM

Oh Ok. AdEngage does accept adult advertisers tho, does that count?

So then it's Ok for me to use Adengage then?

tortus32 2006-04-04 12:40 PM

What sucks is that it seems no matter what service I go with Fusker is already there. So if it's impossible to rid all these services of Fusker, and no one else gives a shit, why should I worry about it?

RawAlex 2006-04-04 01:20 PM

You can use anything you want. But if people know the same sponsor company is all over fusker, they will be less likely to want to do business with you.

I'm well aware of that.

My point is Fusker seems to be everywhere.
It seems no matter what service I sign up for, Fusker is already there.

Where does this end?

Greenguy 2006-04-04 01:36 PM

How big is your business that you can't run your own ads?

RawAlex 2006-04-04 01:37 PM

Good question Greenguy: Tortus, why are you trying to go down the route of brokered ads instead of just placing your own?

Alex

Greenguy 2006-04-04 01:39 PM

...and can't most, if not all of this be done with an ad management sctipt like PHPAds (or whatever it's called)

Fusker is on Adengage.com as well!...

You should have stopped & moved on as soon as you saw this. Not only does Fusker use them, but they seem to brag about it!

It's one thing to see an ad on Fusker that the program may or may not know aobut.

It's even another to allow fusker to run the ads & not let anyone know.

But to have a fucking page on your site that says you have absolutely no problem with fusker & their bandwidth stealing sites is just plain stupid.

Use them if you want, but by knowingly doing so, you are saying it's ok to do business with thieves.

I hope all your images get fuskered.

RawAlex 2006-04-04 01:53 PM

Adenges top site (ape dump) just hotlinks to other sites by framing their pages.

Adengage is not impressing me at all.

It seems like all of these "your ad here" things are on every fucking stupid scam copyright violating steal from others site.

All great points.
I might try and get a script, but I'm not so great at setting that shit up - lol!

It's the main reason I've been looking for a service like adbrite or whatever.

And I'm not worried about being fuskered, I have my .htaccess file set up to block them. I had to have webair do it for me - lol!

Cleo 2006-04-04 02:19 PM

The script that I'm running on my server seems to have put an end to Fusker problems.

Just got this email back from adengage (adengage@gmail.com)
....................................................
Dear Bill,
Thank you for reporting this to us. We have heard only a little bit about fusker sites but they do seem to be appearing more frequently. We are going to go through an internal investigation regarding these sites and decide formally the best way to approach the problem.
We did not realize how much other publishers were affected by them and I assure you we will take this into very careful consideration.
Again than you for taking the time to send us some information about this.
Best Regards,
Adam
The AdEngage Team

Oh brother!
They're saying they didn't know all that much about them - LOL!

That tells me that they are either trying to blow smoke up your ass, or they don't do much checking when adding a new account. Either one is bad news.

tortus32 2006-04-04 04:18 PM

Ok, I installed this phpAds script and I'm more confused and depressed than ever - lol!

RawAlex 2006-04-04 04:25 PM

tortus, why are you going to such lengths at this point? How much traffic do you have that you require scripting to place simple banners and text links?

Alex

try clicksor

RawAlex 2006-04-06 03:27 PM

Good news if this is true:

Quote:

Dear Sir,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We were not entirely
aware of how fusker sites worked, but have gone through an
investigation of their business practices. We have decided to no
longer allow them on our network, and will begin phasing them out of
our directory.

Again I thank you for your assistance in reporting this and providing
us with some of the legal information relating to this matter.

Best Regards,

Adam

How long should we give them?

A week or so?

I see your points. My sites are not huge and they don't get tons of traffic, yet.

I am starting to use phpAds now, took me a day or so to figure out how it works tho - lol!

I just like the idea of a broker because they put you in their data base for potential advertisers to choose from.

Thanks,

Bill
