Geo-Targetted Ads On Linklists

So I was going through my existing link-trades tonight and looking at my fellow LL owners lists, and then I was clicking on a few of their link trades and one trend I noticed was that what seemed like a majority of LL's I looked at tonight run a geo-targetted ad above their enter button.

Are these ads that effective that it's an awesome idea to put that type of ad in that specific location, or has it become kind of a formulae for linklist design.

Now I understand that most LL's don't want hardcore banners or ads on their index and most geo-targetted are not hardcore, but is this the only reason?

Just wondering am I really missing out by not having a geo-targetted ad?

How many ads did you find on my warning pages?

Know why? :)

Also, I like to use that page as a "warning" slash "enter" page. That page serves a function and that's what I let it do. I keep the ENTER big, high on the page, and it remains easily found. That way, the surfers who land there can hurry on in and enjoy free sites that have been submitted that day.

I was of the same mindset. The appareance of anonymity the internet provides makes it the ideal place for someone who is uncomfortable with the general public knowing their about their porn viewing habits, but there were so many linklists that I noticed using them I figured there must be something to it.

I'm not a fan of it and I'm not using it. From a surfer point of view I find it both unconfortable because the guy that pretends to offer me porn knows my location and also because I don't believe those girls that most of the time show up there saying are from my town are ACTUALLY from there.
