Custom recips and custom text?

Some of us know about the many benefits with custom text recips, for both LL owners and submitters, not least of which is variation in links.

However, I always thought you big LL owners, who are much better at this seo game than a lowly newb like me, made your recips to target specific keywords.

But, if ya'll don't mind when I vary the superficial stuff, like color, table, etc, can I also vary the anchor text, as long as it's catagory appropriate? Would I annoy anyone? Or would I be wasting my time swapping out a few phrases here and there in my recip tables, when I should be focusing on text throughout the rest of the site?

RawAlex and MrYum make a couple points here:

Already stated my opinion in the other thread, but just to re-iterate for those that don't wanna click. Yes, I prefer custom recips and mixing up the anchor text a bit is a fine idea |thumb

The key here is to keep it relevant to the category. Look around the page...use synonyms...drop off or add a word here or there. It doesn't need to be a huge change, just some variety :)

I agree, all I ask is that the word depraved stays in mine somewhere.

BUT, I was submitting to Lemmy today ( |waves| hi Lemmy ) and I noticed one of his rules that I think is a good idea. For those of us that don't require category specific recips, if you make custom recips for everyone and add everyone else's category link, seems like a good idea to add a category link even for those of us that don't require it. Just a thought that would win points with some LL owners. :)

I'll keep that in mind. ;)

That counts for a lot with me as well :D

Dude, you just earned yourself a few extra green dots in the listing for being the first confirmed case of someone actually reading my rules! :D

You would probably be fine most places, but I have been rejected in the past for not including a sites title text.

As for myself, as long as I'm being treated the same as the rest of your table and the text is relevant I'm happy.

ponygirl 2006-04-20 09:24 AM

well, I've just been stripping recip tables. I had no idea that LLs wanted us to make their recips for them now :D

Seriously, I figured stripping tables was the best way, that way I left in any title tags the owner had put in. Plus I thought that a bit of work must have gone into the design/wording of the recip table, I keep text pretty much intact thinking I'm respecting that work.
LOL Jel, I think this is a good example of why you should go back & read a LLs rules once in awhile (hint hint folks :D). Took me a bit too, but I saw that & I figure if a LL owner really wants me to alter a general recip to a niche, they will say something, either in the rules or an email - whatever. If Lemmy (or anyone) does prefer to have a niche on their recip, no problem! BUT let me know, please :) otherwise I figure it doesn't matter to you.

ok, now I'm going off to alter some recips...:D

Being a highly sought after SEO, :D I'll give you my horribly professional opinion on this matter. It is good that some of you use the list's pre-built recips. It is good that some of you do what ponygirl does. It is good that some of you absolutely fuck up the entire process, yet somehow the link still works. Let me throw a word at ya that I learned from a guy named Bill. Chaos. |thumb

Link to me in as many possible different ways as you can and I'll give you big hugs and wet kisses.

Well I hate making changes when doing my freesites. I use whatever the link list puts up, and never change anything except the font color when needed.

Extre green dots to Ponygirl on her next submit as well. Please alert your host of the expected surge in traffic. :D

It's actually not a rule I have enforced strictly, but if there are other violations it has a cumulative effect and makes it easier to hit delete.

ponygirl 2006-04-20 10:14 AM

Lemmy - it helps that you changed your pic - whenever there is a change in the submit page it's a good idea to go over the rules again. If one thing has changed, others might have too. That's why I caught that.

Sue - I have always liked using the provided recips & really held out on changing to text, but I didn't want to do so many mirrors anymore & you can fit more with text. Although, you do manage pretty well I must say :)

UW - wet kisses? don't you have dogs? :D

Yeah, but they eat out of the kitty litter box and drink out of the toilet, so....I don't like kissing them very much. ;)

Mythbusters just did a show that referenced a dogs mouth being cleaner than a humans. Yup, you guessed it...the dog IS cleaner! Pucker up Ponygirl...UW is lookin for ya :D

Yea, this is definitely not a hard and fast rule. Frankly, there are some submitters that have a great deal of difficulty in making sure the recips are even visible. I'd prefer they concentrate on the basics before tackling the challenge of actually changing the recip :D

But, there are also some submitters who are pretty damn adept (you know who you are...and thanks for the quality sites!). If those folks want to shake things up a bit...go for it |thumb

Well hell, any animal's mouth would have to be cleaner than mine. You don't know where it has been. :D

|pokefun| Zing!

I love custom recips, it is my opinion that you can put more of them on a page, and they look so much better aesthetically then the mishmash of everyone's pre-built recips color clashing with the one next to them.

virgohippy 2006-04-20 03:01 PM

I just submitted a site with a few minor alterations to text in the recips. Hopefully I didn't fuck up anyone's strategy:

pantie-fetish.com/fs06/wet-panties/white-wet-panties/

Just add the http, www, blah blah blah stuff.

I'll post relavent notes later if any LL owners mention anything not already stated here. =)

Looks pretty good Virgo...you're on the right track |thumb

Couple things though...first is that big blind link on the entry. Got a couple borderline blind links on the galleries too.

On your recips, using 20 with that much text gets pretty cramped. I'd suggest dropping to 16 recips and only going 4 wide on the table. It'll give you some more room for each recip so they're not so jumbled looking. I always try to keep them very consistent as much as possible. Meaning each recip either fits in 2 lines of text...or 3 lines of text. But, they're all the same. Otherwise, it gets tough to tell where one recip ends and the next one begins. Hope that makes sense :)

virgohippy 2006-04-20 04:25 PM

Blind links? Which? How so?

I'll work on cleaning up my recip tables more. Partly what prompted this thread. ;)

Didn't mean for this to turn into a general freesite critique, but I'll take it anyway. :D

Entry page...
"A sexy redhead teen slips out of wet cotton panties so she can masturbate in a video. Hear her moan as she has an orgasm!"
Galleries...
"See what it means to be inside the webs most erotic site. Watch this hot redhead teen take off her wet cotton panties, and masturbate on film!"
This one is borderline, it does imply that the link leads offsite...just not clear that it goes to a paysite. Your sites are otherwise pretty clean, so I'd probably let it slide.

Yea, at least part of the point to using custom recips the tight clean recip tables. I think you'll have a lot less trouble if you go to 4 columns wide :)

Yea, as a reviewer it just kinda comes out of me when I look at someone's free site |loony|

Didn't mean to get the thread offtrack though.

Added: Just had to test my "Quotes" skills :D

No problems here. Always good to know what a reviewer sees. Feedback is much appreciated. And anyway, this thread was about making sites more LL friendly anyway, wasn't it? :D

Also, I tweaked those links a bit to make 'em less blind. I hope no one minds.
