Do any of you guys have knowledge as to the conversion ratios of review site traffic? I would assume it's quite decent as the surfer is gaining the information to consider a purchase so half the battle is already won.

I know the ratios will be all over the board being dependent on about 5 million factors|shocking| , so I ask generally speaking.

Also, would any of you LL/directory owners accept a high quality blog having a review section on part of it?

Review sites convert very well. The best converting I have seen recently was from a couple of honest reviews of a site. Definitely worth the time to get them to look over your sites.

thanks spazlabz, In your opinion, is brutal honesty the best policy? I plan on using it quite often. If I think the girls look like they just got off the graveyard shift at the local seedy stripclub and haven't had their fix yet, I'll mention it. I'm talking the real deal honesty, not lip service.

On the flip side, if they look as though they would shame the graces themselves with such exquisite features, I'll be sure to mention that as well.:D

I do some review writing on the side for some good friends of mine. And I have been asked to write honest reviews and sweetened up reviews.
an honest review can point out whats wrong with a site but not do it in such a way as to piss off the program owners. Think about it, you roast some programs balls on one of their sites, just how inclined are they to give you access to their other sites? You can be honest and tactful.
the sweetening the reviews up a bit can amount to not much more then sales text....

Both methods do quite well from what I understand :)

so its pretty decent traffic.

As far as being honest in a review its key, dont look at a review site as a way to "fluff up" every review you write as your surfers well get the jist of whats going on. Be honest, and you'll get trust from your readers and they wil sign up to sites which you think are really worthwhile.

absolutely, when I first started in jan I told everyone I talked to I'm in it for the long haul and that means complete honesty with the surfers and my fellow webmasters. I am going to offer very detailed reviews on a specific growing niche, and give the sites a chance to redeem themselves, if one part of their site sucks really bad, I'll say it, but on the other hand , if another part of their site is great I'll mention that too. It goes both ways.

Review traffic converts well for us, too.

If you look at the big review sites, you'll see that they hammer some sites, so they are often on the honest side of things, to keep their own surfers coming back for more advice.

Honesty is a must, but what's as important is establishing yourself as an authority. People are looking for answers when they read reviews, so my honest opinion won't matter if there's no facts supporting them.

Also, it doesn't hurt to dig up some information no other review site mentions. For example, I know a girl from We Live Together loves the Atlana Braves and just removed her nose piercing. Mentioning obscure facts like that tells surfers I've been inside a site and not rehashing what every other review site has already said.

In terms of contacting paysite owners, ICQ/email both work fine. One rule of thumb here is to go for sites that you're interested in and that are under the radar, instead of going for popular sites that might convert but don't get your juices flowing. Writing alot of reviews is hard work, and to maintain your enthusiasm, it helps to review sites you dig.

Indeed. Which is why I am limiting myself to only one niche so as to be strong where the giants are weak. :D

Best traffic you can get I think, the visitors you get have nearly decided to buy your product.

good traffic - make sure you have a thick skin if the review doesn't meet your expectations and use the feedback to improve your offering

I believe you would be able to capture most of this traffic by yourself with basic SEO. Most of review sites' traffic originate from Google and Co., because they do better SEO than most paysites.

I still do pretty well on review traffic. Really nice traffic, and steady.

The only downside is many if not most review sites can and will kill you in your own organic se traffic unless you are very on top of your seo... but it is well worth the effort to be ultra dedicated to that marketing effort as well so let the success of the review sites seo be your guide and inspiration.
