Rant/Vent is it really nessesary?

[rant]Ok I am going through signing up to places to slap a link up to the program I am working for now and of course add a recip on our resource page (GG&J is listed there :) )
any way, some of them have those little security field thinis... the ones that have the box with the text or alpha-numeric in them. it makes registering harder for bots, because it is impossible for them to read...

yeah well, I got news for you, some of them are impossible for ME to read to. sucks to have to try several times just to sign up for something and some paysites have them now too. Are they case sensitive? is that a O or an 0? seriously!

some one please make some of these things that are easy for human to read and impossible for bots because I want to pull my hair out![/rant]

thanks :)

On the same line of thought, I'm really starting to get annoyed by the NATS programs that have the login boxes on the front page where you put in your UN/PW & click the button, only to be sent to a page with the security field & another UN/PW box! WTF! Can you just link to the page so that I don't have to put my UN/PW in twice?

Oh I have seen those too GG, thats another one of those things that either makes me just shake my head, or if i have had to much caffiene, scream at my monitor 'Why-O-WHY is this nessesary!!??'
LOL

Yahoo mail occasionally springs a security string on me when I'm trying to send an email. It's so obscure and badly designed, you have no idea if a letter is a capital or not. If you don't get it right the first time, yahoo will not only not send your email, it will delete what you've typed. :( I now know to hit the back button whenever I see that thing and copy my email so I don't lose it.

I have seen some that you can refreash and it retains your info until you can find an image you can read. But have not seen many.
