My truck got hit last night
 

Our village decided to repair our street yesterday so I parked on Main Street. At about 9:30 last night, we heard a loud boom and I could see my truck move. (no small feat) We have a family of Jehovah’s Witnesses living across Main Street and one of them decided to back out of their driveway a little too quickly and backed into my truck...hard. I screamed "a fucking witness just ran into my truck" :) They were all out there and heard me. And, to tell you the truth, it looked like they were going to run. :) Fucking Witnesses...

Anyway, she stopped and of course we called the cops. My truck looks like it needs a new front fender and it needs a new bumper for sure. Our local moronic cop said the insurance company would probably find me about 10% at fault because I was legally parked :) It amazes me how little small town cops really know about the law. So now I have a smashed truck that needs about $5k worth of work. I have to call the witness's insurance company at 9 this morning.

This was the third vehicle I owned that has been hit in the same parking spot. :)

Only the cop said I would probably be partly responsible. The person that hit me had her insurance agent (sister) with her. She told me the cop was just wrong. This was the same cop that gave me a Breathalyzer test after I was assaulted :) My lawyer begged me to sue the village for that. But, I have to live here. If it were something worse than the test, I probably would do it.

Oh yeah, I ended up blowing a 0.0 on his test :)

Best of luck dealing with the Witness's insurance...hope they get your truck fixed up quick.

Insurance will take care of it but its such an absolute hassle to go thru. Wish you luck with it all and may the repair shop gods be on your side! :)

It's just a shitty parking spot. Like I said, if the village didn't close our street, I would have been in the driveway. I remember as a kid, many cars getting hit in the same parking spot.

I spoke to the insurance company and they tried to get me to take my truck to one of their approved repair shops. I would much rather have a check in hand and use my own guy.

SirMoby, it's mostly just life in a small town. You should hear the crap I don't tell everyone :) And, the crap that happens around here did make a very good movie, "Nobodys Fool". They call it "Bath" in the movie but it was from a book called "Mohawk".

That sucks...I hope everything works out for ya...At least no one was hurt.

The insurance adjuster will be here tomorrow to write me a check :) I just got back from my own guy and he said it would cost about $4300 to fix everything. So, I will be curious to see how much the insurance company gives me.

And I do hate these people. I have no problem with most witnesses. I even worked with a few and went to one of their quickbuilds where they build one of their churches or whatever they are called in a weekend. I just had to see how they did it.

But, these people are assholes across the street.

I spent most of my early teen years as a Jehovah’s Witness. I have nothing good to say about them at all.

I guess all I can say is they can build a building quickly :)
