conversion rates
Hey Guys and gals
is a conversion rate of 1 sale:1500 unique normal, is it good or bad??? I am thinking that it is pretty much horrible, but I dont know... |
That's not bad, especially if it's a mainstream niche or a popular sponsor. Don't be fooled by claims of low conversion rates. I'd be concerned if it was over 1:3000.
Keep in mind that you just started out. The only way to get a good idea of your conversion ratios is over a long period of time. |
I'm currently at 1:1800 or so with freesites.
I'd like it to be a lot better, but I've only been building for four months and I'm pretty encouraged by my progress overall. Happy to keep on building! :) |
Ok, so it is normal, was starting to worry a bit.
how many uniques do You get per free site? |
What exactly are those conversion rates?
X:Y means that you get X sales of every Y unique hits on your free site/gallery, or that you get X sales every Y unique hits to sponsor (hits comming from your free site/gallery) ? |
Overall? around 1:5000. Could be more. |huh I don't really care.
From ccbill sponsors I push on freesites/freesitehubs, which do get steady little bitsies of search traffic it seems fluctuate around 1:1,400. As time has gone on my ratios have slowly started to fall. I'm still searching for the right programs. :D That's hits to sponsors. I don't look at raw hits to my own pages. Just referred hits when it's time to cull the herd, and bandwidth near the end of each month. |thumb |
Xallow,
If you are just starting out do not worry to much about your conversion ratios that you receive from sponsors. Look more to your bottom line/profit. Sponsor ratios only show who actually clicked thru. This may get long but follow. This was explained to me 4 yrs ago and I still follow it today when building galleries and freesites. You pay for bandwidth. But bandwidth is not calculated on who clicks thru to your sponsor but everyone burning it, including you checking out how cool your site looks. Lets say you have 2 sites and each one is the same bandwidth wise and has 1000 people visit each one. Site 1 has 200 visitors click thru with 1 sale. 1:200 ratio for the site sounds great so far. Site 2 has, for whatever reason, 800 visitors that click thru and 2 sales. 1:400 ratio does not sound as good, does it? In fact the first one "sounds" twice as good. Now if it takes you the same amount of time, costs you the same amount in bandwidth and pays the same per sale then which one, 1:200 or 1:400, do you want? I personally would rather have the 1:400. Hell I would take, and do sometimes, 1:3000 over 1:500 if I make more "profit" at the end of the month with it. In time you will figure which sponsor/site converts best for you and which ones do not so just keep building, building, building. Truly hope this helps! |
Ok, thanks guys, you have all been very helpful... Now I just need to find the sponsors that convert I guess :)
