Yahoo Fluctuations?

Anyone else seeing major changes in Yahoo traffic and quantity of indexed pages? I'm seeing patterns that you'd expect to see from Google during that faggy little data dance they do, but have come to expect Yahoo to be much more steady and predictable.

Preacher 2006-07-18 03:39 PM

I don't see a change from Y! on my sites.

My new linklist is doing the Google toolbar PR dance |bananna| though, and if all indications fall as they are indicating, it's another example of how useless PR really is as an indicator of traffic and SE placement & results.

Bill 2006-07-18 04:52 PM

Yeah, I think it's a good sign that PR updates and everybody yawns.

Now if people would just stop using the term "hardlink"...

tickler 2006-07-18 05:03 PM

I have a bunch of direct sponsor links that jumped to the first pages recently. No real ideal why again, but, I'll take the traffic.|huh

Useless 2006-07-18 05:35 PM

I monitor a few very common terms that I ranked very well for on Yahoo, but now I can't even find the site in question when searching for those terms.

Plus, yesterday I noticed a dip of about 300 in the amount of that site's indexed pages. By nightfall, the quantity was back to around the average amount I'm accustom to seeing. This morning, the number had dropped by an even 1,000 pages. Currently, it's down by only 300 again.

I had read somewhere that Yahoo updates its data offline first, so that their online updates are relatively unnoticeable and painless. Guess what, I'm feeling the pain. Obviously, with 1,000s of pages indexed for that site, I haven't lost all of my Yahoo traffic, but they have seemingly decreased the relevance for that site.

UW,
Yahoo updates constantly. I have one term that bounces between #6 and 30 or anywhere inbetween during a months time. It's been like that for at least 9 months that I know of.

Useless 2006-07-19 11:14 AM

I just stumbled upon the Yahoo search blog and found that they announced a new update which began on the 13th. That date concurs with what my stats are saying. There's seems to be plenty of grumbling about this newest update, especially concerning relevancy. It seems they are using a new alogrithm in order to snuff out some spammers and scrapers.

msanchez 2006-07-19 11:05 PM

looks pretty standard for what I usually have, though one term that I have been ranked 1-5 for over a year now dropped to about 15 so that kinda sucks.

I like stability so I hope yahoo doesnt go messing around too much :D

Useless 2006-07-19 11:25 PM

I'm thinking that the reason I'm feeling such a heavy blow on the particular project in question is because Yahoo seems to be juggling (literally) 1,000s of the pages of that site. The indexed quantity continues to go up and down throughout the day, day after day, and like an ass, I can't help but check where I'm at several times per day. The relevancy loss on that project is causing a decrease in traffic to everything I have. Google has never liked anything I have done, so Yahoo has been my hero for quite some time.

Maybe I should start following the advice of those traffic panel fuckers and stop relying completely on free traffic. :D

msanchez 2006-07-20 01:09 AM

I hear ya about google hating and yahoo loving sites. I get it the same way.

Thanks for bringing this up, now I have something to obsess over for a few days.

Hey tool, where did you buy all that stolen content from?

Yahoo & MSN has been very good to me of late...In fact I almost don't care about google anymore (almost is the important word there, lol).

tickler 2006-07-23 07:50 AM

Still looking at my stuff, and maybe starting to see a pattern. Perhaps somebody with more linking might take a look also.

I'm thinking direct links to the roots(top-level ==> top-level) are being downgraded, whereas deeper links(content ==> content) may have been boosted.

Maybe they are trying to kill off those PR link farms. Those double LL recips(main page & category) might be taking a hit also for the above reason.

Excuse me, cocksucker? You talking to me? You better fucking clarify yourself and explain what you are accusing me of stealing.

Wow, it has been a long time since someone came here and rubbed me in such a wrong way, I have my finger on the ban button so quickly.

I think we will give him a day to stop being such a moron.

I agree.

A banning might be in order, but I want to see what this shitdick has to say for himself 1st.

Useless 2006-07-23 11:36 AM

Oh, I want to see what he has to say too. :D

???????????????????
You have GOT to be kidding/be an asshole/be a retard/talk more like a cunt than you look/be plain stupid

This man has more morals in his little finger than a cunt who puts a ref code in a weaselly reply to his own topic in a fucking chat thread no less has in his entire body.

I'm in no way an argumentative sonofabitch, but to be honest in the last few days I've had a gutful of wankers like you. Explain your foolhardy sack of shit of a bag of bollocks (I strongly suspect you won't be able to) (hell here's another set of brackets: I KNOW you won't be able to) before you go splash a ref code somewhere, and tell us uneducated fucks just what you mean by your above statement. Ya dumb cunt.

Fuck, sorry for the outburst but prize A pricks like this complete tool shouldn't be allowed to have their balls drop, let alone come out with nonsensical tripe like this. Maxell - give us some spam and go play with a lorry or five, it's about all the fuck you're good for.

Ah, yes I did miss this post earlier!

Dear Dumbass,

You've just stooped low enough to step on your own dick...which means you must have stooped pretty fucking low. UW is a respected member of this community with more than enough people who know him to KNOW your allegation is completely baseless and unfounded.

On a brighter note, you've also now pretty much assured no one from these forums will have anything to do with you in the future. Which is foolish beyond belief since a lot of good business in the link list/free sites game is conducted here. Welcome to the world of having shit in your own lunch box...wise choice |asshole|

msanchez 2006-07-23 02:29 PM

remind me never to get on Jel's bad side :D

sue-fl 2006-07-23 03:55 PM

Oh you screwed up big time! All of us love UW and know he wouldn't steal content, who the fuck do you think you are???? |catfight|

Can someone here tell me how to clarifly a site's PR?

I mean, if I search a site by a keyword, and that site is on the fist page of the search research, meaning?

Also, if that is the case, then PR is should be related to the keyword used to search? Sorry, a bit confused.

If I am completely wrong and have no idea what I am talking about, then please educate me.
