An article totally worth reading

I'm not recommending this guys strategy necessarily, but there are some very astute observations going on in his writing.
Here's a description of a period many of us will instantly recognize:

It All Fell Apart... A problem I saw in the industry.
Sales dropped. I tried many things and sales continued to drop. I am not talking about a bad week. I mean over a period of months traffic to my galleries increased and sales continued to drop. Why? Traffic was good. After using the same main sponsor for one year I decided to try another. My sales were even worse. I was making maybe 5 sales per day on the same traffic. I tried many sposnors and I could not get the same sales I was getting earlier in the year. I realized there was not a solid sponsor that I could really do well with.
There were many reality sites which converted well but I new I could not get a good foot hold using them. The only way to do well with the reality sponsors is to use their content. TGPs were either listing hosted galleries from the reality sponsors already or there were already regular submitters who were getting good listtings on the TGPs. Trying to compete using limited content provided by the sponsor against hundreds or even thousands of webmasters using the same content was pointless. There was not alot of room for growth of my business. |
