Some questions about running a LL

Finished my first LL a couple of weeks ago and am now seeking advice about some stuff.

1: Should I use a warning page as index? Does it effect trade possibilty and such?

2: Thinking of buying some traffic to get the site going and to get some bookmarkers. What kind of traffic should I buy? If you have any brookers please share :D

3: Should I have links to Free Sites open in same window or new window?

Man, had like 100 questions when I was working on it but cant remember any right now. Will get back with more questions :)

Any other big no no or something I should know about please let me know.

Thanks

Hi ToPo, here are a few suggestions:

1: If you use a warning page or not is completely up to you, most of the "biiger" LL's have one but they use it as an extra page to place ads on. and it shouldn't affect trade possibilities.

2: If you are going to buy some traffic you should buy clicked traffic, not traffic that comes from blind links/404 etc. traffic-out.com does a good job at that.

3. Open them in the same window.

Will take a look at some clicked traffic. Thanks for helping out a LL newbie |thumb

The big trick is getting some PR and traffic, even if it's a little, then you could get some trades. Starting with a fresh site can be hard, as you have nothing to give. Also tough if people dont know you.

Thanks,

Working on getting a higher PR rank by improving the site. At the moment I have PR1 on index only so that's not so good.
And will buy some targeted traffic once that is done.

As this is our first LL we are not known at all in this part of the adult. We have always worked on promoting others and have been running some TGP's so I will need to work on getting to know some LL people now.

Thanks for the tips. |thumb

That's the most important part. Gain the trust of your fellow list owners and be known in the community. Don't be the guy who accepts every submission and don't be the dink who is unrealistically demanding.

Most link trades on link lists aren't really traffic trades since not much traffic is passed through them. (Most link trades are on the bottom of the category pages.) So don't think of them as a way to gain traffic directly and swiftly. And if PR comes up in a link trade discussion, don't bother pursuing the trade. It usually means that the owner has their head buried rather deeply between their ass cheeks.

Thanks, some good tips it sounds like.
As of now my biggest problem with submissions is Im getting more TGP gallery submission than Free Sites for some reason. Have no idea why. |huh

Im seeing the trades as more of a way of my LL to get know. To surfers, webmasters and search engines. So I guess Im thinking somewhat right there then.

Thanks
