My site always declined at the big lists - comments plz!
 

Hey everyone!

I asked this question in another thread b4, but unfortunately nobody answered. So, here's my problem. My site "Russian Reality Sites" (see sig for link) runs pretty well, my traffic converts good, because it's really targeted. My problem: the amount of traffic is still way too low (only about 200 hits a day). A word about the site: It is first of all a paysite directory (for Reality Sites with Russian content) with little descriptions and some free vids for every site. Along with that, every listed site has a babe index - because all those Russian chicks have different names at every site, so I do the work of ID'ing them.

Currently I get my traffic from smaller site directories, a few babe listing sites & a hardlink trade with a TGP. Especially people from other babe sites tell me that my site's cool and a pretty nice idea. But, when I submit to the big link lists like Hoes, Smutgremlins or the link-o-rama my site always gets declined!

So, could you please have a look at my site and post some suggestions, why it probably won't get listed? What's bad about the site, what do I have to change? Is it just too different and doesn't fit into any category??

Most ll's are not going to list this 'hub' type of site.

If you want to get ll traffic to this site then you could make standard free sites and have links to this 'hub' on those free sites.

This is a hub site. It does not conform to your typical link list rules for freesites. Go to LOR rules and read them again.

With this site you need to look for hardlink trades like you did with the tgp that you stated earlier. Go to the "Link & Traffic Trades" section of this board and find other hubs to trade with. This will be of alot more help to ya then continuing submitting this non freesite to LL's only to get yourself blacklisted.

Like amadman stated, build a real 4 page freesite and use one of your outgoing links to your hub. Then repeat this process again and again. This will help your pr which in turn will help get better hardlink trades to your hub.

OK, thanks a lot amadman & JustRobert! That helped me a lot to understand the policy of the bigger link lists. And what's also cool about building freesites (which can contain links to my sponsors and to my hub site then) is that my main hub site will stay as clean as it is now, and I won't have to overcrowd my enter page with the required recips!

that's not the policy of 'big link lists' that's the policy of whole link-list world for free sites they list - 1 index page, 1 main and 2 galleries.

if you start building free sites, put a link to your hub on main page and ads for paysites you promote all across the other pages of your free site... in this case if surfer doesn't like your paysite - he will leave for your hub page not somewhere else..

It could also be where you are placing the recip link. If it's on a "links" page off a site with little PR or traffic, that also might be a reason for not getting added. Just a thought.

As others have stated it sure does'nt look like a typical free site, looks more like a tgp, and a tgp with only sponsor provided content (FHG's). That could be another big reason, your site might be seen as a link/banner farm, with only links to sponsors.

Yeah, I realise that it's the same in the whole Link List world - I just mixed up link lists with site directories (where I DO get listed). It was just dumb me, because you have to be blind not to see that the LL's only list the normal index-main-2galleries type o' sites :D

Did you have a look at my site? Because I don't think it has any similarity to a TGP or to a banner farm. It's a site & model directory, intended for people loving Russian chicks, especially for those who want to find more content of a specific model. The FHG's are only there to get the surfer a little glimpse of what to expect after he read my description.

OK, it took me a while - but finally I have finished work on my first free site. I already submitted it to the 6 LL's who have their buttons on my warning page. So, here it is:

So, any comments on the site are more than welcome. Does it look ok? Would you list it?

I'm a little worried because I have placed a geo targeted iframe ad from datinggold on the main page. Is that ok, or a possible reason for a decline?

iframes are frowned on by a lot of link lists & your site is over 800 wide

Tried it twice here...couldn't get it to load :(

What Greenie mentioned would be an instant decline with most reviewers.

OK, thanks for your replies. You are right MrYum, site loads for me - but very slow. I already contacted my host. Damn, why does something like this have to happen when I just submitted a site for approval, goddamn it |banghead|

As for the resolution... I knew I forgot something. As you probably realised I mostly use tables on the site, they were 800px in width. Just corrected them, now they are 750px wide, looks fine at 800x600 now.

I also replaced the Iframe ad with a geo targeted banner. If iframe ads (like from adultfriendfinder, and so on) are a reason for an instant decline, this should be mentioned in the rules, imo... or I'm blind again as always if it's already there :D

OK everyone, maybe a really dumb question... But if I see a click in my stats from an URL that basically looks like this:

"http://www.xxx.com/cgi-bin/linkadmin/index.cgi/Review/"

and I haven't got any approval message nor is my site listed at the specific linklist, the chance I got declined is pretty high, huh?

If it's not listed within 48 hours, then it was probably declined (but that varies form link list to link list as all have different review & update times)

Ok, would you mind to have a look at my site again then? It should be good within 800x600 (at least it was for me) and I removed the iframe. Any other reasons you see that could be the reason for a decline? Because the LOR also is one of the sites I see a reviewer hit in my stats but it didn't get listed :D

Whoops, I thought you always get an automated mail if you got listed - thanks for the info Greenie. Oh, and it was your link in my stats, the one I posted was the one of another LL, I also changed it a bit, cause there are always idiots who copy and paste everything. |thumb
