ARS w-9 lockout
 

I cant even get into anything at ars because all it keeps comming up with is a notice that I need to send in a w-9. Which I snail mailed the other day.

Can't check stats get link codes, banners or nothing.|sad|

I faxed mine and was able to access my account again within a few hours.

I just snail mailed it befor I realized that I was locked out.

I read that we had untill the 31st so I just mailed it.

No biggie I guess. Will just have to work other sponsors.

Actually, it said to mail it before the 15th:

"Please mail or fax the form to us by 12/15/03 to prevent your account from being locked down."

I assume they went thru everything they had yesterday & turned on the locks today.

Mine was locked down a few days ago. I got mine released within a few hours. Luna came over last night so that we could fax hers from my house since she didn't own a scanner or fax machine.

I went out a bought a $39 Cannon scanner earlier this year just so that I could fax stuff from my computer.

Did they send out notices or anything letting us know that they needed a W9 form?

I thought it was a bit strange since they have had my tax ID on file for many years, but I guess they had their reasons.

I know that the government has gotten pretty strict about having signed copies on file. I had to get signed W9 and resale tax exempt papers from everyone last year in order to keep my CPA happy.

Bummer, I did not read that part of the notice. |sad|

I was refering to what it said on site about taking %28 out after the 31st.

Thats kind of what I was wondering. Seems like they would have sent out a 'special' mailing. Maybe I missed it. But I didnt even notice it untill Sunday.|sad|

I know I logged in a few weeks back & it was staring me in the face, so I printed it out & faxed it in.

Yep a big ditto to that for sure it was staring me in the face too :)

Maybe the problem is that some of us do not come in through the front door.

Plus I do not log into sponsors all the time. I keep link codes and promotional material on my own puter because it took so long when I was on dialup.

And even if it is because I am stupid and blind
it still doesn't make it any less annoying. |jester|

on the 15th their fax line was busy for a l,ong time

Well guess im screwd cause i dont have a printer went to local busines with public printer and guess what ARS Locked out
So what the hell does a person do to fix this ?

I know some smart ass wll say go buy a printer LOL
Well i really don't have a need for em but maybe once or twice a year so cant see wasting 50-100 bux on one

This is something that only concerns people from the US huh? ( I hope|santa| )

You should be able to download it at the local business you spoke of.

Also, alot of times the library will have either the forms or access to a printer for a fee.....

Call ARS they have a way to send it too them via E-Mail, just found out about it today. I am scanning it in now and sending it that way.

Though nearly every other sponsor has W-9's online to fill out :(
Stupid, stupid, stupid... will fill it out, but dropping them regardless.

Luckily my accountant is right across the hall, so I got him to fill it out and I faxed it the day I saw the warning....

I think the only ones I've even seen with the online forms are Jettis processed or CE Cash....and I think by law you are required to have signed copies.

Don't drop them because of this dare - it's partly my fault because when I saw it, my 1st reaction was to get mine in (selfish) as opposed to posting it here in the news (which I completely forgot to do)

I wouldn't drop them because of that. They are a professional outfit, so something of this nature is out of character, but it does kind of suck at the same time. I won't be able to get back over to the office until tommorrow to fax it, worse yet - my sales still showed on my revstats for a few days after the lockout. Had I not seen this thread I could have missed it easy.
