DMOZ good or bad?
Hi all I came across the below page today and thinking back to the couple of times I have submitted to dmoz without result, it kind of made me wonder.
The person who runs this domain http://www.corruptdmozeditor.com/200...eed-to-do.html claims to be an editor for dmoz and she regularly and deliberately dumps sites submitted without even reviewing them or burying them for as much as a year before even considering looking into them. She also mentions bribes and the setting up of personal links for herself and her friends and shared access of dmoz editor rights for their own ends. I'm not up on this at all and wondered what you all think of dmoz and the editors who run it. Have any of you come across something like this before? Time for a coffee I think... regards to all bluebrit ps. I know her profiles blank and doesn't give out any information, I just wondered if this supposed editor could be for real. |
Wether or not dmoz is corrupt probably has fairly little effect on most porn webmasters.
A lot of the adult cats are neglected - if you can find a cat that isn't, then it's a good idea to submit. The cat that lists linklists is supposedly still being reviewed, and there are people here who have gotten listings in it this past year. There was a time when you could make a lot of money just on dmoz listings - nowadays a dmoz listing is useful for some kinds of sites, but it's not something to worry over one way or the other. |
The only thing a DMOZ listing is good for is a google directory backlink.
You are lucky to see a dozen hits a day from the actual listing. |
I would say to go ahead and submit, I don't see what exactly you have to lose. It only takes a few minutes of your time and it could be pay off nicely.
As far as corruption goes: thinking about this stuff could drive you crazy...but it's present everywhere. You just gotta do your best to not let it get to you. |
