2 Links or 1?
I need help or clarification. On this page:
http://www.best-wet-pussy.com/sample/ I was told the top table has two outgoing links. The bottom table is considered ONE outgoing link. How can I make the top table ONE outgoing link? I have to close the TD tag to get the banner beside the text, which requires another ahref to get the banner clickable, thereby making two outgoing links. How can I make the top table ONE outgoing link? Thanks! |
I see 2 links on that page (I usually assume text with a banner next to or under/above it is the same link)
|
I usually look at the intent of the ad...that top ad is designed as one ad space, so it's one outbound link to my eye. Given the limitations of tables, not sure there is a way to achieve that visual layout with only one physical link. However, there are some reviewers that will count the actual hrefs :(
I would also add that I'm not crazy about entire blocks of linked text like that top ad. |
I'd count those as three links. I've been being a total bitch about this 3 links rule lately. Why? Because it seems like if I give an inch on this, the next site will have even more links and then when I reject it, I get argued with. I'm getting SICK of being argued with for rejecting sites (can you tell?) to my own link lists!
If I wanted that layout, I'd probably choose to link the banner and not the text. Just a personal preference I guess. |

Maybe if there was less whitespace between the text & the banner - put it in a table & right align the text, for instance. That would bring it closer to one link in my eyes, even with 2 hrefs. |
I see two myself. If you are gonna call the top ad two then why not call the bottom ad two? But, that's just me. :D

Wow...for a change...I'm not the hardass :D
Now, no throwing things at me ladies |catfight
Move your image after the link and put "align=right" on your image. This causes the text to flow to the left of the image.

Each banner & link combo counts as one ad / link in my book.
I try not to spend my review time counting individual hrefs. |
Thanks for the clarification. I always considered both examples to be ONE outgoing link but I had a link list reject several sites for having too many outgoing links. I thought about not linking the text, or just making "Coeds Need Cash.com" a link in the text. That's really what got me in trouble in the first place. I had a block of text with a link in it to the sponsor and a banner next to it also linked and it was counted as two links. (Two actual things to click) I was going to argue the point but as ladydesigner said, what webmaster wants to argue when it's their link list so I didn't even try. I guess I'll make Coeds Need Cash.com a link in the text and see who rejects it...then take them off my submit list. |thumb

Maybe I'm too plugged in, but it's easier for me to quickly skim over the source code than it is to hunt for links on a page with my pointer... |huh
I don't mean to be a hardass. I'm just of the same mind as ponygirl and ladydesigner, and I don't like having to think too hard. |loony
I agree with the "clickable area" approach when I'm wearing my reviewr's hat. I don't have the time to scrutinize the code (unless something makes me suspicious of foul play).
However, when I'm wearing my builder's/submitter's hat I'm careful not to have more than 3 href tags/page. Why risk a rejection? I doubt that extra block of linked text will bring in more sales anyway. |
some people are very picky, and you can either choose to change the way you make your pages or stop submitting to them, some of them actually count href links in your source code, and if you accidently have one linke for "click" and one for "here" they count it as two. i make my pages in dreamweaver, and alot of times it acts stupid and puts in two href links when it only needs one, i dont want to get declined for that.
I think greenguys way of doing it is the way to go, a banner with a link right below it saying "click here for xpaysite!" with both banner and text linked, is 1 link. I make my pages based on "3 ads per page", not links, some of my ads have more then one link in it, but its obviously one ad, maybe even only one sentence. and I always get listed, if they are too picky, i stop submitting to them, i dont like to, but thats what i choose to do, to save time. |
