Please excuse our mess
Biting my tongue to not say anything bad about anyone, GreenguyandJim is now at candid. We had a problem and there was no way to contact anyone at our previous host.
Since we just had to move the entire site, there are going to be old stuff for a little while and the banners are not working yet. But, we are working on it. |
No probs buddie...
...you deserves our best patience... Mcbethar|peace
Guys
I hope you can see this. As I said, we had to move via ftp quickly. We are fine tuning the new machine and getting all the scripts working. Funny things are happening but it will be taken care of ASAP. Thank you David from Candid. |
Jim, all I can say is I hope that at the end of all of this, when you are free and clear and no longer have your business dangling in the breeze, that you will let us in on what has happened.
Things are getting tougher in the adult business, from content to hosting and right through to click counts and processing. Any information that can help people from getting trapped would be a benefit. I know a few people still smarting from the whole LikeStopped thing, and I wouldn't want to see anyone get caught out on that one again. Good luck... hopefully it all works out for the best :-) |buddy| Alex |

Bah, the truth is that GG and Jim have developed a high sophisticated SEO strategy to gain the #1 spot for dead hamsters at Google.
|
I hear that dead hamster on a spit over an open flame makes for a tasty treat.

Jim
I just popped in for a few before heading to the sand and wanted to tell you good luck with the transfer. Been through this same thing a time or two myself and it can be very stressful. |angry| Take a deep breather and keep reminding yourself: "It's only a movie" |jester
One other thing, I'm using EST for myself, and the time stamps are all screwed at this time. |sad|
Okies I headin’ to the sand. I'll stop back this evening and check on the next episode in the continuing saga of “board board who’s got the board?” |waves| |escape
Board moving is soooo much fun. Maybe do it once a week and twice on month's with 31 days. :P
Thank of the good side, each time it's done you get better at it. |
We'll be fine guys...
A lot of strange things happened yesterday and last night link-o-rama suffered the same fate as greenguyandjim. OK...back to work for me :) I still have a lot to do. |

A few more details about yesterday...
When we went down, the greenguyandjim server would not come back. I remembered that I had an old server at candid where I kept an old copy of ggandj. We started uploading ggandj as fast as we could. When we switched to the candid server, we found out that the server was not quite up to speed. David at candid stepped up and gave us a new machine and spent the night getting everything important working properly. candidhosting pulled our fat out of the fire yesterday and that is something we will never forget. |
Hosting is just a box connected with a fat pipe, it's service that makes all the difference. :)

maybe i don't have all the facts... but it seems to me you guys are not looking for just a hosting company, hosting is well, as cleo discribed. you are also looking for a network administrator and a systems operator, am i correct?
|
That is basically what many hosts offer. With the host that I am on they make sure that the server is maintained, do OS upgrades, install any server support files that the scripts that I install may need, do daily backups. Also when I moved from my old host to them they moved all the files for me and did all the setup.
|
bret, we want it all. We never want to do a thing when it comes to the server.
|
This is why I've never gotten a server at a place like RackShack. That would be getting a box, a pipe, and nothing else, cheap, but no support. I know what I do best and maintaining a server is not on that list. Plus even if I was good at that and had the time, which I don't seeing as maintaining web sites already takes all my time, I want someone at my host that is physically there and can give the server a good kick if it needs it. ;)
For my needs a host is a box, a pipe, and on hand tech support with good customer service. I don't mind paying a little more for this. :) |
I agree Cleo, you have to have support, especially if your running scripts and stuff, would be great to know the in's and out's of everything but thats not the case for me, I honestly dont have the time either.
|
Same with us John...
Back in 96, I bought my first server and a big book. I spent more time playing with it than making money. |
well. that is not colocation. colo is where BYOS. you bring the hardware, you support it, they give you the pipe.
dedicated and vhost is more of the type to offer support and they would be obligated to do all security and maintence on the box because they own it. i prefer colo. the only people i want with access to my shit is the people i authorize. i am a security freak tho. |
