Wordpress issues
Am new to blogging and thought I'd gicve it a try and jump right in by using Woprdpress which I have read is one of the most popular blogging programs but I am having some serious issues with it.
1. Once installed, the blog I created seems to load very slow: http://stars4porn.com/blogs/anjali-indian-sex/ 2. Every time I go to a new Wordpress page within my blog try to make a change, the new page loads extremely slow and then I get a page not found/cannot find server error message. By refreshing my browser 2 or 3 times eventually the page loads but then when I make the change and try to upload it the whole process starts again. Are these issues with my host or simply Wordpress issues? 3. I can't seem to upload any images to include in my blog. I have followed Wordpress instructions but the files won't upload. Also I have tried to just include an image into the body of the text but the image editor doesn't have a brwose button to find the image on my computer. Do I have to physically type in its location? (This doesn't seem right) 4. I just posted my first post and tried to include a hyperlink within the message but wordpress doesn't recognize it. You must be able to add links within the body of your posts and if so how? 5. I have tried to correct these problems manually with a text editor but can't seem to find the page where my posts are posted. Does any one know the default (index) page so I can simply make these changes in Dreamweaver? I know I have a lot of issues it's just that Wordpress (or my hosting provider) is making me extremely frustrated and I want to try and resolve the problems before moving hosts or scraping Wordpress altogether. Any help would be appreciated. |
The only time I've ever had a problem anything like this was my first time using Word Press. I tried using my hosts "single click" WordPress install. After much hair pulling, I deleted the hosts install and did it manually. Problem solved.

I had the first install done for me through a link at wordpress. I have installed it 2 other times myself by simply copying the first install and pasting it in new folders making the necessary changes. You think it could have been installed improperly?

Closing the HTML tag might help a tad........ and to be honest fixing all the other HTML coding errors (there are a number I'm afraid) wouldn't do any harm either.

Try the default template, that will tell you right off the bat if the problem your having has to do with the template.
Otherwise, I think there is something corrupted and would download a new copy of WP. The installation isn't very difficult, just setup a new database in case it's gotten corrupted, copy the database settings into the WP-config file and your pretty much done. I have had problems with a host and the access to databases with a different script that had similar type of problems as you are describing so I wouldn't discount a hosting issue either. |
What html coding errors tumbler? All the pages are created by Wordpress so they should be OK, no?
Walrus, I used the default template at first and encountered the same errors so I don't really think it's a template issue. I will try re-installingh it but am not really sure about creating a new database. Will contact the host and find out about speed etc... Any recommendations as to the minimum transfer speed required? Will keep you guys informed as to my progress. |

As I said before, you have no closing HTML tag, it would have been the last line in your footer.php after |
but it's not there now.
After your favorite links, you have four closing 'div' tags - but as far as I can make out, there were only two open (navboxwrapleft and navboxleft)
Thanks. Will correct.

Thanks for the help guys. It seems that the problem was host related. Contacted my host and had my sites moved to another server and now everything seems to be working fine. Check it out: http://stars4porn.com/blogs/anjali-indian-sex. It's now time for me to check out all the features of Wordpress.
