Happy Thanksgiving Eve :)

And a fine morning to you and your's. :)
Up a little early this morning to start baking breads, cookies and I have to make the stuffing for tomorrow. Did I mention that I do all the cooking for the Holidays except the mashed potatoes? :)

The things my lovely wife cooks, she cooks great. But that's mostly things like Mexican food (Her maiden name is Gonzalez), Beef Stew and...that's it I think :)

It's looking like our Turkey has to go in at about 5 AM tomorrow morning :) So, I am going to get everything else ready today.

So, like yesterday, I will be scarce. Oh yeah, lights go on tomorrow night :) This year, we are all low voltage LEDs. So I was able with about 25 extension cords to hook up to a single Dusk To Dawn Photoelectric timer. Even each window has a photoelectric candle. I tested them last night and there were some kids on the other side of the street. We could hear them screaming, "Holy Shit, did you see that? That was sweet." They they yelled over and asked us to do it again :)

My hubby and I enjoy doing the cooking together. Going to have a small gathering over our house tomorrow; 12 in total. Lots to do today, and we're going to get started right about now. |waves|

Have a great day everyone! |bananna|

Morning all,

Enjoy the Thanksgiving preparations Jim.

I'm participating in a $2k first price poker tournament tonight. Curious on how that will turn out. Maybe I should let Dr B. play in my place :)

Anyway, have a nice day all.

Mornin' y'all,

The traditional Cajun deep fried turkey is on the menu here and there should be plenty left over for turkey sammiches. :D

Damn it is cold for down here. Only 48 F this morning.

Up early since I brought Carlos my macaw in last night due to the cold and there just isn't nothing like a parrot doing their morning squawking in the living room echoing throughout a tiled house. Plus I forgot to turn on the heat before going to bed so I had four cats on top of my head trying to keep warm this morning.

Did all the shopping for Thanksgiving yesterday so not really sure what I'm doing today if anything besides working. Doing Thanksgiving at my neighbor's place this year. I'm doing a few rice and tofu dishes and another friend is doing the dead bird and pig.

Good morning world |waves|

Jim, I'm looking forward to seeing your house all lit up on Google Earth...or at least some pics. :)

Another cool morning so I'm waiting for the sun to rise high enough to warm things up enough for a shower and then off to the grocers to pick up some things for tomorrow.

Happy humpity hump on pre-Gobble Day to all.

Good Pre-Turkey Day Day Peoples |waves|

Once again, I stayed up really late doing this & that - slept til 9 or so & now I'm behind on my normal schedule. Of course, it'll probably be a 1/2 day for me anyway as we're having the family over tomorrow & I have to help The Bitch set some stuff up before I head out to the Sabres game tonight against fucking Toronto |angry|

MrYum 2006-11-22 10:29 AM

Good morning all!

Heading out to the store to pick up some final tasty items. We're going to go outside the box a bit and have game hens instead of a big ol turkey.

The sex monkey tried to kill me a few years ago with undercooked game hens, and she's been begging for another chance to get it right since. What she hasn't specified is whether she wants to get the cooking time right...or the killing me part. Hmmm...I did just bump up my life insurance policy...ruh roh :(

If I disappear after the holiday...it's been fun folks :D

Morning..

Off to the palms to get the football picks and stats. Tried to get there yesterday but the parking lot was full and now valet has taken over 1/2 the covered parking |badidea| so i'm going early before the lunch crowd gets there at 10am for Bloody Marys.

I'm so happy we don't have all this hubbub for the national day of mourning also called thanksgiving. Spud and I (used to be all my kids) will be at the battered women's shelter tomorrow to help them prep for our annual 2 hours of paying it foward, then we'll hit our favorite local breakfast joint, 2 movies and end the day with a glass of wine (and sprite for the rug dawg) at my pal candi's new house.

For those traveling to be with friends and family today, travel safely.

|waves| have a good one.

PS: Anyone here *cough* remember where they were on 11/22/63??

I was sitting in the 3rd grade classroom of the parochial school I attended. There was a hushed conversation between some nuns (of the above) at the door to the room, and then we were told that the President was dead and that we should put our heads down on our desks for awhile. They let us out early that afternoon, which usually would have meant fun on a Friday, but no one seemed to be in the mood for playing that day. I doubt any of us understood what had happened, since nothing had been explained to us, but somehow the weight of the situation had been conveyed to us.

I was just a wee lad, about 6 months older than John Jr, not really old enough to understand exactly what was going on, but old enough to understand that my Mom was very upset. I do recall watching the funeral on TV a few days later.

emmanuelle 2006-11-22 12:22 PM

Good afternoon! The sun is still shining, it's 3 degrees c (36 for you non-metric heathens) The back door is practically revolving between kitty running out, his girlfriend running in to eat all his food, and the squirrels demanding that the buffet be replenished.

mine is similar -- only i was in public school in Ybor City the latin area of Tampa. 3rd grade. They let us out early. I had no clue to who he was because we had been living out of the country from 1959 until Oct of 1963. My 1st month in public american school and wow a holiday. Of course once I got home and saw the TV i realized who it was.

dareutwo 2006-11-22 02:03 PM

Afternoon all -
Apparently these next few days I won't be having a schedule.. lol
Just doing a drive by to say hello.

juggernaut 2006-11-22 03:19 PM

Afternoon everyone. Well all the shopping is done, I'm cleaning the house being everyone is comming over this year to give the sis a break on holiday gatherings. Wife is with the mom learning the American turkey cook and getting all the food ready. My mom is trying to learn Romanian which is interesting to say the least. In about 1 hour I will be able to sit down and watch tv, fall alseep in the couch and let them entertain each other. Enjoy your holidays..

Aan_Missy 2006-11-22 05:25 PM

My husband is doing all the cooking this year and I am so thankful for that. Plus we are not going to drive anywhere this year thank goodness. I hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving.
