The Netpond Link List Thread (merged)

:D Wow my first recip table has already changed...that's like a blog entry.

jonnydoe 2007-01-04 02:19 PM

In case you are not aware NP has gone to that...

Useless 2007-01-04 02:25 PM

Two posts in, and I still have no idea what you're talking about, jonny. :D |huh

jonnydoe 2007-01-04 02:30 PM

haha...I don't know if it is a bad word here. Netpond has changed their LL format and they want a one hundred word description.

Cleo 2007-01-04 02:31 PM

This is what is being talked about.

100 words? Holy fuck.

More thoughts later...

Bill 2007-01-04 02:49 PM

100 words is just crazy. Doubly crazy, because it's just for one site.

Making a thumb for a freesite sucks as well - for one linklist with average traffic? also crazy.

I used to sub all my sites to netpond - traffic wasn't anything special but the listing lasted forever, and over time the traffic number got pretty good.

But this new system is too much trouble to deal with. I figure in a while they will be forced to modify it.

Bill 2007-01-04 03:00 PM

Does anybody happen to know if you can, or how you can, do a search.php?do=getnew on netpond?

It's kind of a pain in the ass to read netpond without some quick way to sort up the new posts.

I've tried using http://www.netpond.com/search.php?do=getdaily (their default "todays posts" link) but it gives an invalid forum specified error.

http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/....php?do=getnew is GG&Js most valuable link for me.

I'm with you man, just aint worth it. The traffic was alright, but nothing to write home about. Looks like they want a blog and want the submitters to do everything. Kinda funny I am toying around with the idea of starting a blog with each of my free sites being a blog post. I'll do it for myself but not for someone else haha

I'm really stunned that they'd have the balls to make such a request, and I too am certain that a lack of submissions will force them to change. Hell, if you asked most submitters to create a 100 CHARACTER description, you'd get some pissed off people. 100 words is a blog post. In fact, if you are going to write 100 words to describe a free site, you'd probably be better off slapping that chunk of text on your own blog, linking to the free site from within that text and sit back while the aggregators and SEs pick up your keyword infested feed, instead of submitting to link lists. (and then submit both the free site and blog post to me :D )

Fonz 2007-01-04 03:14 PM

I did category trades with netpond not that long ago, it seems they dropped them all...

100 words? It seems they're going for the SE traffic now that the SE's have changed their attitude towards LL's...

Jeremy, where are ya boy?

j3sUS183 2007-01-04 03:16 PM

100 words desc? They're crazy :D :D :D

CrazySy 2007-01-04 03:32 PM

Look at their new recips, looks like front page of a newspaper...lol

I drop them from my list because of:

To submit a Freesite / Gallery / Blog you must Private message the user "Linklist Submissions" on this board.
I am sure they are not gonna miss me :D :D

Lemmy 2007-01-04 03:34 PM

Here's a nice tool if you have problems coming up with a 100 words. :D

Seriously, 100 words + my understanding is that you now have to submit via the PM system on the Netpond board. |huh My guess is they'll be hurting for submitters pretty soon if they enforce the new rules strictly.

Useless 2007-01-04 03:47 PM

The navigation on the new design doesn't exactly clear the path to the free porn either. I don't consider it very user-friendly.

jonnydoe 2007-01-04 03:55 PM

I submitted a post to "linklist submissions" and haven't had a reply in a day or two. I think they are having a backend problem with the new system. The new layout is pretty nice...the only issue I have is with writing a hundred freaking word description but I don't think that will hold. If they want that they need to hire reviewer(s) to write it...

A reply from the new (?) LL operator on netpond: "Catagory trades are being built in again right now.. just polishing a few things."

ok then...

Mr Spock 2007-01-05 03:17 AM

I submitted a couple of freesites to them over the last few weeks and got no response from them, when I tried submitting yesterday I found that the submit page had changed - gues I will just scrap them as they hardly seem worth the effort now - 100 word is almost a thesis on the topic.

On another point - several of the freesites that I submitted over recent weeks to Netpond have been accepted by other LL such as Link o rama, Jays etc. Can I delete Netpond's recips from my recip table(they have not listed any of my sites) If so what can I replace them with? other LL , my own hub (I have a feeling this won't fly with LL) or should I just leave it as is (seems a waste though).

Maj. Stress 2007-01-05 03:26 AM

Mr. Spock,
If they are not gonna list you, replace the link with someone or something else. I don't think you will have any problems as long as you are staying within the guidelines.

jonnydoe 2007-01-05 03:52 AM

I don't think you want to get in the practice of deleting recips or making any changes to your freesites after they are accepted by anyone. Many LLs take a long time to review so they will end up rejecting you if their recip is not there...you could also get yourself in a blacklist situation.

If I KNOW that a site was rejected or de-listed (and I have the time) I'll swap out the recip and submit it elsewhere. It's not something I'd make a priority, but it you're sitting around one day wondering why your feet have toes or why there's hair around your anus - that's the time to do such things.

I went to submit a site a few days ago and saw the 100 word description thing. Made a new recip table without the pond and added a different recip. I hope they see their submissions go through the cellar and drop that requirement.

Chop Smith 2007-01-05 04:00 PM

UW had a brain fart about doing a tool to write description. Maybe it time for him to rethink it

I did the same thing when I saw the private message crap. Submitting as many sites as I do is already a big enough pain in the ass. With the time I spend building and submitting pissing with something like that just aint worth it. Now maybe if they sent enough traffic to make it worth while it would be a different story, but that would require quite a bit of traffic for it to be worth it for me.
