Other Search Engines

Hello everyone!

Have been away for a while but slowly getting back into things.

I have a question regarding search engines: Are you guys just focusing on the major ones like google and yahoo. Or are you hitting the smaller ones as well. If so is there a list out there somewhere of search engines?

Thanks for the help.

I only bother with Google now, and I just let it find my sites rather than submitting them.

Hell - we've been up for less than a month and have'nt even started to look at some of the basics - like page title (crap - I gotta remember to fix that one) and google is already sending traffic to the site - and we're making sales off of it.

In one of my other adventures - we consistantly rank in the top 10 for 90% of the industry keywords - content is king - and the surfers consistantly let us know....

Same as Sad Voyeur,

I just get links and let the se's find me. I can't recall the last time I submitted something to a search engine. It seems like the smaller engines take much longer than the big 3 though, so be prepared for a wait to see visits from them.

my 2 cents

When I launch a new site, I give it 2 links from an existing one straight away (so it has two inward and zero out). Then I leave it a couple of weeks before looking for 2-3 recips a week for about a month. By now I usually have around 10 outward links and 12 inward, I then list it for $20 or so on Best Of The Web so it has another inward link which is not a reciprocal. All my links inward are of the actual site title, so if it is called xzydating4u.com then I go for links to xyzdating4u.com.

It is at this stage I move on and totally forget about the new site for 5-6 months. When Google updates during this time I usually find the new site comes in with around a PR3-4. This is when I then go for ABC link trades with my other sites but I get people to link to my now 6 month old site using keyword text and I alway have a minimum of two phrases. It might be 'Adult Personals' and 'Sex Dates' then I might add a third 'Adult Sex' mixing a word from each.

It seems to work for me, maybe I am just lucky who knows but looking at just my search engine traffic Google 90% Yahoo 8% rest 2%
