WordPress help please!
 

My new install of wordpress is giving me grief if I make a long post. I get the following error:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /wp-admin/post.php on this server.

Short posts work just fine though, and I did try splitting it.
I remember hearing something about a server setting causing this problem.

Can somebody please help out a damsel in distress?

you probably have mod_security enabled which might be blocking the 'large' post. Its also possible that you have entered content that is getting hit by mod_security's rules.

did you by chance have the word curl or lynx or perhaps GET in the post?

a quick search on G brings up a few results concerning using the words lynx and curl:

The words 'lynx' and 'curl' do not appear in this post. I tried omitting the word 'get' and it still did not work.

Looks like I should give my host a call in the morning about this mod_security thing.

It was indeed a mod security issue, that my host was able to fix in a couple of seconds. We had the same problem on the old script we were using (dragonfly) before switching over to wordpress.
