I am having a lot of fun with Dragon NaturallySpeaking
 

MadHatter just got the program Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 9 and Man I'm having a ball with this. I've never tried dictating anything instead of typing it in this thing is really slick. It still makes mistakes occasionally, but overall the recognition is fantastic. Does anyone here use any kind of program like this to type on their blog posts, message board posts, or in writing their sites? I figure, I might write longer blog posts, because although I'm a fast typer, it gets really old typing a long post.

Truthfully, I just wanted to fart around with this. I just started using it tonight, so I'm still getting used to talking clearly enough that it knows what the hell I'm saying. It's been interesting when I use swear words, or words like fucking. It actually got fucking right that time, the first time I tried to do it, it substituted talking, lol.

At my old job someone used it. Once you train it, it really does quite a good job at typing what you say.

I bought a copy of it in 1999 - I'd left my librarian job because of RSI and thought I shouldn't type anymore. It was hell trying to train it. I don't think it liked my Australian accent. After I while I gave up.

You've got me wondering how much it's improved in 7 years.

I still have RSI... which is not helped by working with a computer for hours every day. LOL

Do they have a redneck version? Oh man, could I drive this sucker crazy!
