Freakin' ICQ B-day Notifications
 

Is there a way to shut those FUCKING birthday notifications off in ICQ? They drive me nutty(er).

If you feel like mentioning what you're having for dinner, what you're listening to, or if you prefer dogs over cats, go ahead and say it here, though I coud not possibly care less.

I've been unable to find any way to shut them off. It would probably take a program or registry hack.

I'm not aware of a way to shut it down in ICQ.

But, having switched over to Miranda a couple years ago, I don't seem to get them anymore. While Miranda does take a little getting used to (what new software doesn't), it also doesn't have the ads of ICQ and is a smaller 'footprint' on the system.

If youre runing icq pro go to the main button - choose security preferences
Under communication events - you should be able to set whether to receive those

right click the name, then under 'contact details / personal' is a checkbox for birthdays

majick - youd have to do that for every person on the list :) - just go to communications and turn them all off at once :)

Turning off all the stupid noises in icq used to be semi-simple but I've found finding the noise settings very difficult in V5.1:(

If your on a pc I would use trillian and if your on a mac use adium. my 2cents.
