In news of the weird..

2 workers at the Orleans Casino died yesterday from inhaling methane gas from a sewer they were trying to repair.

That really is more common than you would think. I was in many sewers as a plumber. And never would I go in without a fresh air machine. I was almost fired once because I wouldn't do it.

The next time you see people in a sewer, look at the yellow 10" hose stuck in the hole. That's the fresh air machine :) It's illegal in all states to go into a sewer without one. I didn't read the story but I would imagine the company doing the work and the casino will get huge fines from OSHA.

It was actually engineers that work for Boyd Gaming.. and the 1st one that fell in was chasing his saw as he was trying to fix a clogged line by reaching down and sawing it. According to the news reports on TV here..a big gust of wind blew the saw out of his hand and he fell in trying to save it.. one of his co-workers went in after him and when neither came up.. a 3rd one went in after calling 9-11. 2 of the 3 died from the gas and the 3rd is in ICU.

After hearing the whole story..i'd say i'd of let that saw go...

Can't remember what the heck he was doing down there (I was like 8 when it happened), but my sister had a bf who died from methane after going in a sewer....
