Opt in emails

Hey all,

I made this page: http://www.cumslutworld.com/archive.htm where surfers can sign up to get access to my gallery archive, and by doing so they are told that they accept receiving a weekly e-mail from cumslutworld.com.

Is this clear enough? Or does there have to be a little tick box saying "I understand that yadayada...."? Could there a problem calling this opt in email because you're not really signing up for the email, but for the archive (though you're told about the weekly email).

I am aware that most sponsors don't accept email advertising even if it's opt in, but there are exceptions. Actually, if you could recommend some sponsors that do (I know of a few) I'd be grateful.

Thanks!

My understanding is that it should be 'double opt-in'. Basically, they first submit their email address, then a confirmation email is sent to them, with a link they need to click to 'confirm' the sign-up.

This prevents people from entering the email addies of their sworn enemies...which I have to admit used to be lots of fun. :D

If you're requiring them to enter their email address to view your gallery listings, then you wouldn't give them access until after they had clicked the confirmation link.

Now...the wisdom of requiring such a process for your surfers to see the galleries is debatable...and a discussion for another time.

Thanks, that makes sense! I'll do that.

It's more of an experiment, really, to see if there's an interest. There are plenty of freely available galleries from the main page.

One thing you do have to remember is that all the emails you send must have a link to a similar page to unsubscribe from the list.

Our regular newsletter mailer is double opt in. But, the board itself has a mailer. When you sign up to the board, you agree that we can email you anytime we see fit. Although we use it sparingly, we do use it at times. And as far as I know, I don't think there is an unsubscribe link on the emails sent from the board software.

I would use a separate mailer with double opt in if you plan on using it frequently. If you don't, at the very least, you will get a lot of remove me emails.
