I don't know. There are 2 satellite radio stations now. When there is the threat of there just being 1, I think the government has a duty to step in.

They dont even know where they will be located yet.. job cuts???

Oh yeah - they need gov't aproval & this is not going to happen until mid to late 2008 (I think the PR said 18 months)

All I know is that the 8 XM units I own better still fucking work when this is all said & done!

I am likely to get XM this spring when a buy a new car. That means sometime down the road I should be able to listen to NHL and NFL with it. Sweet.

Greenguy, that would totally suck if you had to get new units. I'm sure with GM putting XM in their vehicles somehow they'd make it all work.

i'm listening to Mel Karmazin on Stern right now and according to him all radios will keep on working |thumb

he also said the he is already gonna be testifying in front of congressional comittees next week and that they are pretty confident that the merger will be ok'd by the gov't... sounds good until you factor in Howard Stern, with him involved you never know what the politicians will do


hey everybody with XM did the quality of the O&A show go up considerably when they moved to satellite? it's amazing how bad the gov't and CBS running 35+ minutes of commercials every hour turned Stern's show into a steaming pile if shit the last couple years on FM radio, his shows now are a million times better on Sirius

The XM version of O&A is MUCH better than the Free FM version - mostly because there's no taboo subject matter or language.

It's also strange that a 3 hour live show on Free FM fits into 2.5 hours on the reply (with standard XM commercials) Regular radio has 10 minutes more of commercials than the XM shows that do have commercials (of course, only the talk stations have commercials)

yeah the Sirius talk shows run commercials too but they are perfect timing to get up, take a piss, refill your coffee cup, grab a donut or three and then in my case sit my ass back down and do no work :D

any Bubba The Love Sponge fans on the board? he is on in the afternoon and friday mornings on Sirius and he has a pretty entertaining show too... I'm hoping the merge goes thru I've never heard O&A but I've found that all the morning shows that used to go back and forth talking smack and fighting are all pretty entertaining to listen to

I really hope this merger goes through in the hope that things will merge really nicely. I really like driving Acura cars but want to have sirius. Sirius doesn't come prewired in them. I don't want an aftermarket player in my car. I'm crossing my fingers that everything merges all nice so then I can have the best of both worlds and have it be factory installed in my car as well. That would make me very happy.
