Happy Wack a Mole Wednesday

A fine morning to everyone
No snow, no kids and no Grandchildren...back to normal :) And I believe it is going to stay that way for a while. My wife even wants to cancel Easter :)

A nice regular day for me :)

Good Morning |waves|

Good Fucking Morning |waves|

I got back from the Sabres game last night & for some reason, my main PC won't turn on :( It's getting power, as the ethernet light is on, but I press the button & nothing. So MML is coming over with his awesome set of tools.

So if I'm scarce today, you'll know why.

Ramster 2007-02-21 08:23 AM

Good Morning. Good hockey all around last night though a little touch and go for our team but at least we did pull out the shootout win.

GG, too bad on the PC. I HATE PC problems. Nothing more annoying.

terry 2007-02-21 08:45 AM

I agree, nothing more annoying then pc problems.

Good Morning Everyone and Happy Wednesday!

A light dusting of snow fell overnight and today we are expecting 5cms.. not much bud when you add that to what we already have... well wait... its not as bad as some other parts of Canada, so I shouldnt complain.

Have you heard there is a gas shortage in Ontario?? Its true! There was a fire at a gas plant so that slowed down production. Top that off with the train strike and you get no delivery! Gas stations are actually closing. They are saying there may be a ripple effect if something doesnt happen soon... I believe the company was Esso.

Anyway, have a great day!

Shit load of rain today, looks like a mega coffee morning.

Have a groovy day!

MrMaryLou 2007-02-21 08:53 AM

Good Morning All :)

Greenguy 2007-02-21 08:54 AM

I'm just waiting for Cleo to remind me that Mac's have better on/off buttons :D

Had some freezing fog last night that is just now starting to clear, looks like a super heavy frost where even the trees are covered in frost.

Hooked up a computer for my wife last night, she's been wanting to "play" on the computer alot lately and I get kinda freaked out when she's messing around on here, so I hooked up an old Gateway PC that her work gave to her, and runs Win 95. Its one of those old dinosaurs that was top of the line back in probably '97. I was surprised at how fast it ran and even more surprised that when I plugged it into the router it got online perfectly. It oughta be good for her to play around on.

My son has a cold today so he's staying home with me, so that will cut into work some today, but he's usually pretty good about playing in his room with all his cars. I've never seen a 2 year old little boy love toy cars like he does, he doesnt sleep with stuffed animals he sleeps with one of his cars every night.

A nice 62F here today, 3 days ago 21F love this weather. |waves|

Good morning world |waves|

One more day of packing for the move. Snafus so far include Comcast not being able to process my move order online, in chat, or on the phone. And BellSouth/AT&T accidentally cutting off the dial tone on my home line yesterday (8 days early), plus they replaced my static IP with a dynamic one since they (supposedly) moved that IP to my new residence line. So it'll be a couple of days of not being able to login to about 10 of my most secure admin sections, etc.

Yes, moving is always such a joy. |bananna|

Greenie - I don't know about Macs having better on/off buttons, but the "Easy" button tv commercials for Staples (office supplies store) are now focused on their new EasyTech service, where they'll give your working computer a "tune-up" for $99 (computers needing repairs cost more). So I thought to myself, why would anyone need to tune-up a perfectly good computer? Then I realized, they're not talking about perfectly good computers, they meant PCs. -- Good luck with the problem, hope MML's bag of tricks does the errr...trick.

Back to packing now. A great humpity hump day to all.

:)

I actually got up a 8am today what a miracle :D

Tonight we are going to a new restaurant called Leroy Selmon's sure would be nice if Leroy was there! Supposed to be real southern food so looking forward to it. |thumb

Off to work now have a great day all!

Morning....

I spent waaaay too much $$ yesterday.. I feel like a train wreck. a MASSIVE train wreck.

Just finished reading the spark notes on 1984 so i could run thru rugdawg's PPT report.. oh man i think GWB took a page.. 2+2=5.. only in his case it's really NEW-Clear. And i see that Tony Blair is pulling the troops outta Iraq so Prince Harry doesn't have to go.. |thumb good move!!

Ok enough politics.. There is a really good article on what really happened here over the All Star Weekend.. it's from Page 2 on ESPN..

Oh well I think i need to get back to Orwell.

Have a good one and I hope your PC recovers, GG. |thumb

have to pick up my nephew at the airport today as he is moving in with us to attend college. I don't think the 'moving down permanently' thing has hit him because even last night they were still figuring out what to pack and how to ship it. He has also confirmed that when he moves down, he wants to move to Linux (which already runs on his laptop) for the webdesign work and programming that he does. The final straw was when his machine started popping up warnings that it was trying to connect to all these different machines when he was just sitting there IMing me.

Greenie, was MML's father a TV repairman? I hear they have an awesome set of tools. Good luck getting that fixed -- I hate hardware problems.

So, a trip to the airport followed by a brief layover at McDonalds to prop up one of my stock holdings then a brief stop at a GameStop to purchase a new XBox game because he is the only one of his friends that didn't get the Halo3 Beta test package. Then I'm sure I get to fix linux on his laptop as he said it was doing something weird when he was running Gimp.

My wife's machine crashed recently, replaced it with new machine running XP. Itunes refused to let me move her Ipod to the new machine, it said, it is already synced with another machine, erase? Thank goodness for linux -- I was able to mount the IPod's filesystem, get a list of the songs, and then create a new playlist on her new machine, clear out the IPod and resync. I don't know how a household with only Windows machines can survive in this world. :)

What's the new slogan for vista? 3gb of ram ought to be enough for anybody?

We picked up our real copy of Crackdown yesterday..had the beta one once since Oct but i see they've upped some of the scenerios. Included was a Halo3 beta link. |bananna|

Cleo 2007-02-21 10:24 AM

Mac's have an on/off button? Why would you ever turn a Mac off?

The passed out straight girl that I rescued from Voodoo Lounge November of last year, that I never heard from again, called me late last night asking to take me out. We ended up at the Blue Martini where we got asked to leave for displaying lesbian activities in a straight bar so we went back to my place and she spent the night. I guess she isn't really all that straight after all.

Just a day of work planned for today.

MrYum 2007-02-21 10:53 AM

Good morning GG&J'ers |waves|

Another gorgeous day in the sunshine state here...should hit the mid 70's :)

Sorry to hear about the puter Greenie...could be several things. I'm betting MML (the jack of all trades), will figure it out |thumb

Time for workies! Zoom Zoom!

RedCherry 2007-02-21 11:04 AM

Good Morning All |waves| I'm so happy my main work to Alien's was done yesterday, now I can get back to my regular work, lol.

Going to start this morning though planting some flowers I bought yesterday, and hopefully get some more wood painted. The contractors ran out of boards yesterday, so hoping they bring them in the AM so we can paint before they get them up and installed. I'd say they are about 1/2 way done with the job. I'll be glad when they are done and it no longer sounds like they are going to pound a nail through my office wall.

Greenie, good luck with the computer. I HATE computer problems! Hopefully, it is something simple like a burned out power supply, and all your data is fine. |thumb

Fonz 2007-02-21 11:50 AM

Morning all,

It looks like Cleo had more fun than most of us, well me for sure, last night :)
Like always a got a gazillion things to do so I better get to it.

Have a fun day all.

Linkster 2007-02-21 11:58 AM

Hmmm - light on the ethernet but no power comes on - sounds like the power supply went out - I had that happen on an old dell - after reading about 20 different boards I found out Dell doesnt put big enough power supplies in the desktops - went online - found a great replacement with loads more power - installed it and everything has run fine since

Loads of updates and learning a new program - should be fun here today

Mornin' y'all,

Hey, I heard that! It's still morning for almost another hour here in Texas. |catfight|

Got a late start today, the drugs I took to help relax the back muscles put my lights out for about 10 hours. Not sure the back is any better, but now that the foggy head has cleared I at least feel like getting some work done today.

|coffee is still on, help yourself...

Useless 2007-02-21 12:12 PM

I have a big bag of rock salt on my front porch. I was just out spreading some salt on the glacier which is slowly forming in my driveway. I, for whatever reason, just smelled my hand. I think the cat used the bag of rock salt as a litter box.

Excuse me while I go and peel away the outer layers of flesh on my left hand.

bDok 2007-02-21 01:12 PM

Morning all. Sucks about the puter Greenie. But I think what Linkster said is probably the problem. Replace the power supply and you will be back in business. Got a million things I would like to get done today and getting up late isn't helping. Stayed up much to late last night watching running with scissors. have a good day all.

Cheers,
B
